Autumn Open Abbotstown Sunday October 18th

Well done to Trish Jackman,Emer McGlynn, Lucy Clinton and Ciara Rohan who competed in the Autumn Open yesterday on a beautiful crisp sunny day in perfect conditions in Abbotstown. The ground was hard, no mud , wind or rain - a rare XC day in Ireland!

All 4 took off together in the combined ladies race with Senior/ u20/Masters women all running together. The senior women had 6k and u20 4.5k. It was fast from the start with the first lap of 1500m run in 3.23k pace.

Our highest finisher of the day was Trish Jackman who ran a super tactical race sticking with the lead pack throughout and finishing in 5th in the Senior race. Emer McGlynn, back after a stint in the US, braved the Irish XC scene and paced herself perfectly to finish in 30th in her first big outing in Ireland in a number of years.

The U20 race was packed with up and coming talent and was won in a super fast 15.28 by Megan Brunt of Blackrock AC. Lucy and Ciara were out fast and ran with the lead pack for a lap but the quick pace was too tough to maintain for them. They battled on bravely and settled into their own rhythm and finished in 12th for Lucy and 15th for Ciara.

Great running from everyone, a brilliant practice run for Nationals in 5 weeks time, when the going will most likely be a bit softer!

A fantastic day of racing with the relays before hand , some very entertaining races.

Waterford Primary Schools XC

Well done to all of our youngest members who took part in the Waterford Primary Schools XC on Tuesday 22nd September at RSC. Big numbers in attendance from many schools across the city. Some super competitive and entertaining races.

It’s difficult to spot our WAC kids when they are donning their various school sports T shirts! But I managed to spot a few, all with smiling faces.. 🤩

Well done everyone who took part and ran so bravely. 👏👏
