NATIONAL RUNNER-UP FOR AMY GALVIN
A massive well done to Amy Galvin on finishing Runner-Up in today’s Ladies National Senior Strokeplay Championship at Cunnigar.
Amy put in a fantastic performance throughout the championship, finishing on -4 and just one shot behind the winner, securing second place on the best last 18.
Well done also to Margaret Hogan, who represented the club brilliantly and just missed out on qualifying for the final 18 holes.
Two great performances from our Tullamore ladies on the National stage. Well done Amy and Margaret! 👏

We couldn’t let the week pass without celebrating Dillon Melia’s fantastic runner-up finish in the National Intermediate Strokeplay Championship at Tullamore last Saturday!
Dillon produced three brilliant rounds of 53, 48 and 52 on a very challenging course to claim the silver medal. 👏

A WEEKEND TO BE PROUD OF IN TULLAMORE
What a weekend for Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club as we hosted the National Intermediate & Senior Gents Strokeplay Championships.
After months of preparation and hard work, it was fantastic to see the club host such a successful National Championship weekend and welcome players and supporters from all over the country.
🥈 Dillon Melia produced three excellent rounds of 53, 48 & 52 to claim the silver medal in the National Intermediate Strokeplay Championship – a brilliant achievement on his home course.
👏 Anthony Galvin came agonisingly close to a podium finish in Sunday’s Senior Championship. Anthony finished on a superb -20, just one shot behind the three players who finished on -21 in 2nd, 3rd & 4th places, ultimately taking 5th place on the back-18 countback.
👏 Darren O’Connell also proudly represented Tullamore in the Senior grade. After a difficult opening round, Darren battled hard and showed great character to fight his way back and finish the opening 36 holes under par.
A huge congratulations to Dillon, Anthony and Darren on representing Tullamore so well on the National stage. 👏
Of course, a weekend like this simply doesn’t happen without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes.
A massive thank you to our committee, members and volunteers who gave so much of their time in the weeks and months leading up to the championships and throughout the entire weekend. From preparing the course and clubhouse to parking, stewarding, catering and all the jobs that needed to be done, it was a huge team effort and the club was a credit to everyone involved.
A special mention must go to our Greenkeeper Sean Pyke, along with Dinny Hill and Darren O’Connell, for the huge amount of work that went into cutting the greens and maintaining the course in the lead-up to and throughout the championships. The extreme heat and prolonged dry spell in the weeks beforehand made course preparation particularly challenging and also contributed to some very tough playing conditions over the weekend. The condition and presentation of the course was a credit to the work put in by Sean, Dinny and Darren.
A special thank you also to Catherine Galvin, who took on the catering for the weekend with the help of so many of our lady members. The work that went into keeping everyone fed and looked after throughout such a busy weekend was hugely appreciated.
Thank you also to Scally’s Centra for kindly sponsoring the bread rolls for the weekend.
We are also very grateful to Offaly County Council for helping the club by providing traffic cones, and to Lisa O’Brien and Wayne McCormack for very kindly allowing us the use of their field for additional parking over the weekend. With such a busy weekend in Tullamore, that support was invaluable.
There are far too many people to name individually, but to everyone who picked up a job, gave an hour, gave a day or spent weeks helping to get the club ready, thank you. It took a huge collective effort to host championships of this scale.
Between a successful National Championship weekend, a National silver medal for Dillon and fantastic performances from Anthony and Darren, there was an awful lot for Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club to be proud of.
Well done and thank you to everyone involved.
