🏹 AIM, SoA and MFAA — how does it all fit together?
As archery continues to grow in Malta, we often get asked what the difference is between Archery in Malta, Sons of Archery Malta and the Malta Field Archery Association.
They are separate organisations and communities, but they are also closely connected and support different parts of the same growing archery scene.
AIM — Archery in Malta
AIM is the range, the training base and the everyday home of our archery community.
It is where people come to try archery for the first time, learn, practise, improve, enjoy the sport recreationally and prepare for competition.
At present, all current MFAA competitors train at AIM, making it the training base for Malta’s current field archery team.
However, MFAA membership and competition are not tied to AIM — the Association is open to eligible archers from across Malta, regardless of where they normally train.

SoA — Sons of Archery Malta
SoA is focused strongly on community, friendship and international connections.
It forms part of the wider Sons of Archery international community, helping archers connect across borders, build friendships, share experiences and create opportunities to shoot together.
For many of us, it has helped turn archery into something much bigger than simply standing on a shooting line.

MFAA — Malta Field Archery Association - MFAA
MFAA is the competitive and representative side.
The Association supports field, 3D and traditional archery competition and provides a pathway for Maltese archers to compete internationally.
Through its international affiliations, including the International Field Archery Association and Archery Association Europe, MFAA competitors can take part in recognised competitions and championships abroad.
And this weekend is a perfect example.
🇲🇹 18 MFAA archers are heading to Crete to represent Malta at the Canyon Cup, with the whole team having trained and prepared together at AIM.

So, in simple terms:
AIM = the range, coaching and training
SoA = the community, friendships and international connections
MFAA = competition and representing Malta
Different roles, but very much connected.
Some people simply want to shoot for fun.
Some become regulars.
Some join the wider archery community.
Some decide to compete.
And some eventually find themselves standing on an international shooting line wearing Malta on their shirt.
That pathway is exactly what we want to keep building.
Good luck to the entire Malta team heading to Crete this weekend. 🇲🇹🏹
One community, different roles, and a growing future for archery in Malta.
