Rest in peace Michael a true gentleman thinking of all the family at this sad time.
RIP

Erin’s Own GAA Club received the sad news yesterday of the passing of our friend and clubmate, Michael Dowling.

Michael was the oldest active member of our club, and we will feel his loss deeply.

The Dowling family have a long tradition with our club. Michael’s sons, Colm, Phelim and Enda, all played with Erin’s Own, while Phelim and Enda remain heavily involved in the club today. Michael’s grandchildren, Evie, Grace, Jack and Alfie, also wear the blue and yellow, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Dowling family.

Michael served as an officer of our committee for many years and, at the time of his passing, was our Club President.

Michael was a man who was always willing to put his shoulder to the wheel in support of Erin’s Own. He served as Club Secretary for many years and was always available to offer advice, guidance and counsel.

He was heavily involved in our centenary celebrations just two years ago, particularly as a source of immense knowledge when we were compiling the written history of Erin’s Own.

Michael never shirked his responsibilities when it came to fundraising and was always there for the club when the need was greatest.

Clubmen such as Michael are a rare find. He stood by Erin’s Own through thick and thin for over seventy years, and his unwavering dedication, loyalty and friendship will never be forgotten.

Michael will be sadly missed by all in Erin’s Own.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
