Waterford Petanque Club

Waterford Pétanque Club is honoured to share that two of our members, Tom and Debra, represented the club as part of the 26 IPA delegations invited to Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the President of Ireland, on Tuesday, 25 August 2026. While President Catherine Connolly was unable to greet the group in person due to official duties offsite, the delegation was warmly welcomed with a guided tour of the formal state rooms, where Sergeant Paul Mulligan of the President's military staff shared the history and symbolism behind each room. Despite the President herself not being there to greet us, it was still such a monumental event to be attending.

This was a wonderful opportunity for Irish pétanque to be recognised on such a significant occasion, and we are truly grateful to have been part of this historic event. Sincere thanks to Tom Donellan for organising the visit on behalf of everyone in Irish Pétanque Association.

Another great day for Waterford Petanque Club and particularly for our club President Bea Crotty-Berclaz who took Gold at the inaugural Tipperary Town & Country Pétanque/Boules Club. Precision shooting competition.
Congratulations to Beatrice who has dominated the weekend, winning also yesterday's IPA women's Doubles with Debra Wildansyah.

Congratulations to Derek and Seamus from Griffeen Valley PC for taking home the 1st place trophy 👏 Don’t worry, our vikings secured the last two spots on the podium - Congratulations Debra and Pat for getting 2nd and Mick and Karen for getting 3rd 🥳

What a day of pétanque in Waterford yesterday.

Hosted by Waterford Pétanque Club in partnership with Waterford City Rugby Club Club, 18 teams from across Munster battled it out for the Munster Doubles Championship and qualification for the National Doubles Championship.

The weather may not have played ball, but it certainly didn't dampen the spirit of the day. The heavy ground made conditions challenging, but it also produced some outstanding pétanque and plenty of memorable boules.

The home club had every reason to celebrate as Waterford's own Yaan and Beatrice were crowned Munster Doubles Champions after an unbeaten run throughout the competition. Frankfield Pétanque Cork duo of Patrick and Mick finished runners up, while Waterford's Mick and Karen claimed third place. Richard and Tom from Clashmore/Kinsalebeg Pétanque Club rounded off an excellent day's competition in fourth.

A huge thank you to everyone who travelled and took part. Your support and sportsmanship made it another fantastic Munster event.

Special thanks to Ollivier from Rebels pétanque Cork, who is this years Munster Representative, for keeping the competition running so smoothly throughout the day.
