🏓 Table Tennis for Everyone at TTStars Waterford

We were delighted to welcome two groups to Kingfisher today as part of our ongoing work with Waterford Sports Partnership.

Stephen and Daniel from TTStars, together with Pauline and Jordan from the Sports Partnership, ran dedicated table tennis sessions for a disability group and a group of older adults.

It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, enjoying the game and experiencing just how accessible table tennis can be. 🏓

Today was only the beginning, with a number of further sessions planned for both groups over the coming months. We’re delighted to be able to bring table tennis to more people in our community and continue building an inclusive club where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the sport.

🏓🏆 Fantastic start to the Munster season for TT Stars! 🏆🏓

A brilliant showing from our players at the first Munster Ranking Competition of the 2026/27 season in Cork, with TT Stars represented across the junior, senior and veteran events.

A fantastic set of results and, just as importantly, great representation from TT Stars across different ages and categories. 👏

Development training, open play, robot practice and plenty of games — with a great mix of ages and abilities all enjoying the sport together. 💪🏓

Whether you want to improve your game, get some great exercise, meet new people or simply have fun, everyone is welcome at TTStars.

We run regular training, open play, programmes in partnership with Waterford Sports Partnership, and activities and events with Munster Table Tennis throughout the season.

🇮🇪🏓 Great performances in Jersey! 🏓🇮🇪

A big well done to Bernie Franklin-Brennan, who had a fantastic weekend representing Ireland at the Six Nations Veterans Table Tennis Championships in Jersey.

Bernie and the Over 40s Ladies team came incredibly close to taking third place. They led 2–0 before the tie went all the way to the deciding doubles, eventually losing 3–2, with the doubles itself going to five sets. It really couldn't have been much closer!

Bernie also had a brilliant run in the Ladies Singles, reaching the semi-finals, where she was beaten by the player who went on to win the tournament. A fantastic individual performance and a great weekend overall. 👏☘️

A big well done also to Catherine Morrissey (SETU Waterford), who represented Ireland in two of the four team events. Catherine picked up a win against Scotland and was narrowly beaten in her matches against Wales. The results might not all have gone her way, but she was happy with how she played and can be very proud of her performance. 🇮🇪🏓

There was also a lovely story from Catherine’s weekend. She unexpectedly met a former teammate she had played with in the Wexford League back in the 1980s, who was representing Jersey. Neither recognised the other after around 40 years! He then took Catherine and the group on a tour around the island — a brilliant reunion after all those years.

The Six Nations Veterans Table Tennis Championships take place in Jersey this weekend, 18–20 September, and it’s great to see two Waterford players representing Ireland.

A special mention as well for Igor, who was due to represent Ireland in Jersey but unfortunately had to pull out at the last minute through injury. Gutted for him, especially after being selected as the Irish Veterans No. 1. Hopefully the recovery goes well and we’ll have him back at the table with us soon. 💪🏓🇮🇪

We’re updating our weekly programme to provide dedicated development and advanced training, while continuing to offer open play on both club nights.

🎯 Development Training & Coaching | 7:00–8:30pm
🏓 Open Play | 7:00–9:00pm

Monday development training is aimed at beginner and developing players, with structured coaching focused on improving technique, consistency and match play. Open play continues alongside training throughout the evening.

Advanced Training & Coaching + Open Play

🏓 SESSION 2 | 7:30–9:00pm
Open Play

Friday advanced training is aimed at stronger and more experienced players, with higher-intensity structured practice and match preparation.

🏓🇮🇪 TTStars at the World Masters Championships – Korea Update 🇰🇷

More positive news from Gangneung as the championships continue.

👏 Igor successfully won his singles group to qualify for the knockout stages after a series of excellent performances, including a remarkable comeback victory from 2-0 down.

👏 Stuart competed strongly in his singles group and continues his campaign in the consolation events.

👏 Natalia has also been enjoying the experience in Korea, representing Ireland in her events at one of the biggest table tennis tournaments in the world.

There was further success in the doubles, with Igor and Stuart teaming up to win their doubles group, securing their place in the knockout stages and giving TTStars another result to celebrate on the world stage.

The World Masters Championships bring together thousands of players from across the globe, making it a truly unique event. To have TTStars represented in Korea is a fantastic achievement, and we're delighted to see our players performing so well.

We would also like to wish the very best of luck to the rest of the Irish team competing throughout the championships. Representing your country on the world stage is a tremendous achievement, and we hope everyone enjoys the experience and achieves the results they are aiming for.

Congratulations to our own Daniel Kovac on receiving the Table Tennis Ireland Volunteer of the Year Award at the TTI National Awards.

The award recognises Daniel's exceptional contribution to club, provincial and schools table tennis over the past year. Through his work with TTStars, Munster Branch and various school and community initiatives, he has played a significant role in helping to grow and promote the sport.

While the award is presented to an individual, we know that volunteering is always a team effort. We are delighted to see Daniel's dedication recognised at national level and would like to congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement.
