Johnville V Waterford Crystal

A great start to the season for our lads this morning, battling through damp and wet conditions at St Martins Park to kick off the campaign in style.

It didn’t take long for us to open the scoring, with last season’s Player of the Season Jake Murphy finding the net inside 30 seconds. A lovely through ball from Finn Kehoe sent Jake clear, and he buried his effort from just outside the box to get us up and running.

We doubled our lead soon after when Finn , Jake’s strike partner, was played through and finished coolly to make it 2-0.

Our back four were excellent all game, standing firm and dealing with everything Johnville tried to throw at them, giving little away at the other end. It was also a good day for our new faces making impressive debuts for the club.

But once again it was Jake Murphy who stole the show , he continued his excellent form from last season, adding four more goals to his tally in a really impressive individual performance.

We were awarded a penalty in the closing minutes, and up stepped goalkeeper Ben Cunningham, who kept his cool to slot the ball into the corner and put the icing on the cake.

A superb collective performance and the perfect way to start the season. Great work from everyone involved.

Under 11 League
Abbeyside V Waterford Crystal

A great show of spirit from our Under 11s in their first league game of the season, coming from behind away to Abbeyside to take all three points.

Abbeyside took an early lead, but the lads never let their heads drop. The lads battled hard throughout, and the reward came in the second half as we turned the game on its head with three unanswered goals.

Two superb strikes from Hugo turned the game in our favour, before a third goal that Toby can rightly claim sealed the win and the three points.

A brilliant response and a great way to start the season — well done to all the lads.

The Schoolboy League returns tomorrow and we would like to wish all our teams , players , parents and coaches the very best of luck for the season ahead.

After a very long break our U17s are back in action as they take on Villa away from home.

Our Underage Academy returns tomorrow at 9am. hope to see everyone bright and early
