🌷Spring Equinox is coming...

We are approaching another turn of the wheel. The balance between light and dark, a balance that we can mark twice in our calendar year.

This is a moment for renewal. For hope. For welcoming the light and bringing balance into your life. It is a moment to reflect and clear the stagnant energies of the winter, and move into a brighter and lighter energy for this next chapter.

Call me cynical but...

I think Mother's Day is bu****it.

We do not need one day in which there are a selection of flowers suggested for loved ones to buy.

We need support from society.

We need to be seen and heard. We need to be supported to birth our babies wherever and however we choose. We need to feel safe. We need to stop being disempowered by outdated systems.

We need services that can facilitate us (like, actually) with a crying baby or restless toddler so we can do the most basic of things to care for ourselves- a women's health physio, dentist, GP, hairdresser etc.

We need society to stop commenting (positively or negatively) on our bodies before, during or after birth.

We need people to (please oh please) stop parking in the parent and child spaces - one of the only practical things that exist that make our lives easier 🤣 (trying lifting a child out of a car seat in a narrow space, or carrying children plus shopping when your car is miles away)

We need a baby seat in public bathrooms because doing your business with a baby on your knee, and then wiping and pulling up your trousers? Ninja moves.

We are tired.

We are undervalued and underpaid.

It was my choice to become a mother and I adore it. After many years of trying to get pregnant which included IVF, I know what a privilege it is to be in a mother to two healthy children.

The fact remains that society values things about me that are little to do with the incredible work I do every single day to raise conscious, kind and confident children who care about other human beings, and this Earth.

Not on Mother's Day, and not on any other day.
