~Workout Strategy (Muscle Gain) 💪🏼🏋🏻
•Compound Lifts: Focus on exercises that work multiple muscles;Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press, Overhead Press, Pull-Ups, Lunges, Rows.
•Progressive Overload: Gradually increase weight, reps, or sets to challenge muscles.
•Rep Range: Aim for 8-10reps for 5-6 sets for muscle growth.
•Full Body: Work all major muscle groups (legs, chest, back, shoulders, arms, core).
~Nutrition 🍌🥦🍠
•Eat More Calories: Consume more calories than you burn (calorie surplus).
•Protein: Essential for muscle repair and growth; include sources like lean meats, dairy, eggs and supplements.
•Carbs & Fats: Don’t neglect healthy carbs for energy and fats for hormones.
Hydration: Drink plenty of water; dehydration can cause water retention.

Starting the gym can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be.
Here are a few simple tips to help you stay on track this January 👇
✅ Start small – You don’t need to train every day. 2–3 sessions a week is a great start.
✅ Focus on consistency, not perfection – Missed a workout? No problem. Just come back.
✅ Learn before you load – Good technique beats heavy weights every time.
✅ Have a plan – Walking in with purpose builds confidence and results.
✅ Remember your WHY – Health, energy, confidence… keep that front of mind.
💪 The hardest part is starting — showing up is already a win.

Our Aquatots 6-week swimming course (running 7th January - 14th February 2026) is the perfect way to help your baby or toddler build water confidence in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
🌊 Course Times:
• Wednesday 9.30–10am (5–12 months)
• Friday 9.30–10am (12–24 months)
• Friday 10.05–10.35am (12–24 months)
• Saturday 9.15-9.45am (12–36 months)
• Saturday 9.45-10.15am (12–36 months)
👶 Guided by experienced instructors, each class focuses on water safety, bonding and building early swimming skills.

Todays 9:30am Christmas Cracker brought us to the end of an amazing year on the mats. Well done to everyone who walked through our doors and took part in some of our classes this year 🏋🏻 it’s been a pleasure to have each and every one of you on the mats!

Huge shoutout to our Leisure Centre Manager Gráinne who is taking part in 20 Dips in December 🏊🥶
Out braving the elements that comes with Irish weather Gráinne is pushing through to raise funds for Kilmore Quay RNLI. The volunteers dedicate themselves all year round, heading out in all conditions to keep our coasts safe and rely on fundraising and donations to provide this much needed service to Irish coasts 👏🏼

Our ‘Morning Mermaids’ enjoying their annual Christmas coffee morning recently 🧜♀️🎅🏼 a great social event for the morning crew full of laughs, coffee and cake! We love the community feel to our leisure centre and hope for many more to come! Merry Christmas guys from all the Club Whitford team 😊
