Menapians Athletic Club

Some sad news reached us over the weekend as we heard the news of the passing of Mrs. O'Connor who is our club coaches Catherine O'Connor 's mother.
Catherine is well known as an athlete and coach and previously held roles on the club committee.
Mrs O'Connor was also mother in law to our current Chairman Senan and grandmother to previous members Roisín and Cal. Our thoughts are with the extended O'Connor family at this time.
May she rest in eternal peace.

Pink Rock 10k
St Joseph's AC hosted the Pink Rock 10k which also doubles as the Kilkenny County Race. Six Menapians members took to the start line putting in great performances over the route. Great seeing the club colours on display and shout out to our supporters Niall out o the course

Run Kilkee Half Marathon
In the scenic seaside village of Kilkee Co. Clare Enda O'Sullivan was in action taking on the Half Marathon Race.
An out and back course taking in the breathtaking views of sea cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean Enda clocked 2:09:42
Well done Enda.

Weekly Weekend Parkrun Roundup
As some toyed with the idea of staying home to watch the Ireland v All Black's rugby game, most changed their mind when they saw the early exchanges and pulled on their runners.
Yet another super Saturday morning weather wise as the crowds gathered ready to run their 5k.

Athletics Ireland is inviting every club to be part of a special celebration honouring one of Ireland's greatest athletes, Ciara Mageean. 🇮🇪💚

As part of the 123.ie National Senior Track & Field Championships on Sunday, 26 July at Morton Stadium, each club can nominate two juvenile athletes to represent their club in a special on-track celebration with Ciara.

This memorable moment, taking place between the men's and women's 1500m finals, will celebrate Ciara's incredible achievements as European Champion, Olympian and Irish record holder, while inspiring the next generation of athletes.

• Two juvenile athletes per club
• Wear your club colours
• Assembly: Clonliffe Harriers Clubhouse
• 🕢7:20pm
• 150m run

Mr Oil Track & Field Championships
At the final evening of the Mr Oil Wexford T&F Championships held at Enniscorthy Sports Hub,

Ilze Bedrite bronze O35 1500m, 5th in O35 100m , 4th O35 400m
Kirsty Hynds gold O35 1500
Siobhán Doyle gold O50 100 metres.
Rachel Foley 5th in 100m
Sharron Dier 6th O50 100m
John Dier silver O50 400m, 5th in O50 100m
The club was 4th out of 7th teams in women's relay, just pipped on line for bronze and 4th in mixed 4x100m relay.
Glorious conditions on the track as the Athletics season nears a close.
Congratulations to everyone who ran and volunteered on the night.

Sharon Martin and Fran Rea were in action again at the weekend competing at the Race 2 Glory Adventure Race in Kiltimagh Co. Mayo. The event consisted of a 10k mountain run, followed by a 23k hilly cycle and finishing with a 7k run over toad, river and country track.
Both athletes competed over the 40k route and Sharon blitzed the course winning the women's race in very warm conditions.
Huge congratulations to both.
