Decided to head out yesterday evening in search of a cod and a few bass. After last week’s successful session, my hopes were high—and I wasn’t disappointed!
Using lugworm and crab as bait, I managed a few bass and, to my surprise, landed 11 spurdogs! The average size was around 70cm, which was incredible to see in such good numbers. Even more surprising, every single one of them was caught on lugworm—a first for me.
The rig of choice was an up-and-over pulley rig with a 100lb mono snood, and it worked a treat. Great session all around!

Decided to head out last night to try for a Wexford cod, though with the poor catch reports lately, my hopes weren’t too high.
Turned out to be a great session in the end! Plenty of schoolie bass, small codling, and even a few coal fish kept me busy throughout the night. Then, just as things started to quiet down, I had two lovely bites back-to-back, landing two cracking fish.
The rig that did the job was a pulley pennel loaded with big lugworm baits. Fingers crossed we start to see more cod showing up in the coming weeks

New Product Designing – We Need Your Feedback!
I am currently looking into getting Black Micro Crimps designed. They will be (2.5 mm in length).
And will have a matt black finish which will reduce the reflection off of them in the water which will reduce the risk of spooking fish in clear water conditions and save the hassle of gluing rigs .
I can get these crimps made in the following four bore diameters:
0.80mm
0.70mm
0.60mm
0.50mm

A enjoyable weekend of fishing! I had the pleasure of fishing in the Leinster League on Saturday, pegged at Dodds Rock, and then the Mick Kearney open at Ballinoulart on Sunday.
Saturday was tough fishing, with a odd fish here and there , but just an hour before the end, I managed a lovely double shot—a ray and a dogfish—using our 3 hook clipped rigs! The ray also earned me the longest flatfish in my zone on Day 1. I finished with a 3rd in my zone on Saturday and came in 5th on Sunday.
A big well done to all the winners this weekend!

🎣 Nice to get out for a club fishing competition down at Hook Head! Plenty of fish caught by everyone, and I’m happy to have managed 2nd place with a total of 20 fish . Mostly wrasse, but also a few dogfish, pouting, and a lovely 51cm po***ck as my biggest catch of the day! 🐟
The 2-hook flappers were my rig of choice, helping me land great mix of species.

🌊🎣 Had a great night out fishing last night to use up some leftover bait from the weekend! Target species were dogfish, bull huss, and possibly a ray.
We were in luck with plenty of fish around—mainly dogs and bullhuss, but also landed some tub gurnards and flounders! 🐟
🎣 Catches of the night:
- 6 bullhuss (5 small ones and 1 big one!)
- 16 dogfish
- 2 tub gurnards
- 3 flounders
The 2-hook flapper rig and pulley pennel up-and-over rigs. Fresh ragworm and big mackerel baits were did the trick for a productive night.

🌊 Had a brilliant 2 sessions trying new fishing spots! Landed 14 bass (up to 60cm, average 45cm) and a bream 🎣. Also tested some exciting prototype products—one is uniquely designed to save time and offer great benefits. It’ll be launching soon, so keep an eye out! 👀
