πŸ”₯ FSM YOUTHS TAKE ON MINI HYROX πŸ”₯

What a brilliant day for our FSM Youths πŸ’ͺ

The kids got the chance to take on a Mini HYROX with ELITE today, and they absolutely loved it.

A great challenge, a great atmosphere and, most importantly, another opportunity for our young people to move, compete, challenge themselves and have fun doing it.

Huge thanks to everyone at Elite Physio for creating the event. The setup was brilliant, everything was really well run, and you could see the amount of work that went into making the day happen.

And a massive thank you to all the coaches, volunteers and everyone who helped out throughout the day. πŸ‘

Our FSM Youths did us proud as always. πŸ’š

Strong kids. Confident kids. Capable kids.

FIERCE & STRONG πŸ’ͺ

Strength training for kids isn’t about lifting the heaviest weight. It’s about building strong bodies, confidence and capable movers learning what their bodies can do and having fun doing it.

SHOULD KIDS LIFT WEIGHTS?

100%.

Is it appropriate for kids to lift weights?

Again, 100%.

And here's what people sometimes forget...

From the moment a child starts learning to move, they're working against resistance.

Holding their head up.
Sitting up.
Crawling.
Getting themselves off the floor.
Climbing.
Running.
Jumping.

Their own bodyweight is resistance.

Then they start picking up toys, carrying bags, moving things around the house, climbing on furniture...

That's resistance too.

So why do we suddenly become afraid of resistance because it's shaped like a dumbbell, kettlebell, medicine ball or barbell?

The equipment isn't the problem.

The weight, the coaching and how it's being used are what matter.

When strength training is age-appropriate, properly coached and appropriately loaded, it is not something kids need to avoid.

It's something they can massively benefit from.

We're helping them build stronger bones and healthy muscle, while developing coordination, control and a better understanding of how to move their body.

And here's the part I think is really important...

Some of the movements we naturally learn at the very beginning of life β€” getting off the floor, carrying things, controlling our own bodyweight β€” are the exact movements we desperately want to hold onto as we get older.

Strength isn't just about lifting weights.

It's about building a body that's capable.

And the earlier we teach kids how to move well, control their body and become physically strong, the better foundation we're giving them for everything that comes afterwards.

Kids should be strong.

Not bodybuilders.

Not powerlifters.

Just strong, capable kids who are prepared for life.

Another FSM Strong Kids Camp in the books πŸ’™πŸ”₯

And what a week it was.

At the end of every camp, we let the kids vote for their Camp MVP – Best Girl & Best Boy.

πŸ† Ruby – Best Girl
πŸ† Liam – Best Boy

Both were voted for by the other kids and received a copy of Way of the Warrior Kid β€” an amazing book and one we love giving to our kids every year.

Our coaches also choose an Overall Camp MVP.

This isn't about being the strongest, fastest or best athlete.

It's about the kid who supports others, encourages others, gets involved and helps make the camp better for everyone.

This year's Overall MVP went to Jody Kinsella πŸ‘

An absolutely well-deserved award for the way he supported, encouraged and interacted with everyone throughout the camp.

But the biggest win?

Watching what ALL these kids achieved during the week.

πŸ”₯ Kids going from not being able to jump onto a box to hitting 22, 25 and even 30-inch box jumps.
πŸ”₯ First tumbles.
πŸ”₯ Hanging from a bar for over a minute.
πŸ”₯ Lifting weights they never thought they could lift.
πŸ”₯ Running their first mile.
πŸ”₯ Learning how to front squat and deadlift properly.
πŸ”₯ Building confidence and discovering what their bodies are capable of.

And that's only a small part of what happens during our FSM Strong Kids Camps.

Yes, we want kids to become stronger and fitter.

But we also want them leaving camp more confident, more capable and willing to try things they didn't think they could do.

Another brilliant summer of camps.

Huge well done to every single kid who walked through the doors and gave it a go. πŸ’™

See you all again next year πŸ‘Š

Strength training and fitness does alot more for a child's brain 🧠 than you actually realise.
