My thoughts on the log book 📖
I was always of the opinion you didn’t need one, as long as your training to failure. However I have started to use one the last number of months and am noticing massive improvements and strength gains.
Your level of failure is different daily based of a number of things. How many meals you had before training, how much water you drank, are you sick, did you sleep well the night before etc.
Having a log book ensures you know what you hit last week and you know what you need to get this week in order to progress.
As humans we naturally try make things as easy as we possibly can. With a log books that’s not possible.
A major fault however I see is when the log book is used incorrectly. If you just keep adding weights / Reps and your form, tempo and time under tension suffer as a result this will negatively impact the result.
Use the log book as a guide write notes beside your sets to give you pointers for next week
