🏥 IHMIS Review Meeting | 30 September 2026

A comprehensive IHMIS Review Meeting was held on 30th September 2026 at the State Guest House, Tripura, under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tripura.

The meeting was attended by SMD, ABDM; MD, NHM; Director, DHS; CMOs; and other senior officials and representatives from various health facilities.

South Tripura District was felicitated by the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tripura, in recognition of its achievement as the First Digital District of Tripura under the digital health transformation journey.

From Paper to Digital: South Tripura Moves Towards a Smarter Healthcare System! 💻🏥
South Tripura has taken a significant step towards paperless and patient-centric healthcare with the implementation of the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS).
With digital registration, patients can access their health information through their ABHA number/digital registration, while consultations, prescriptions, laboratory investigations and reports can be digitally recorded and linked to the patient’s health record.

Tripura’s Digital Health Transformation Vision Highlighted by Health Secretary at Aarogya Manthan 2026 at New Delhi

The Government of Tripura’s ongoing efforts towards transforming the State’s healthcare system through digital technology were highlighted at Aarogya Manthan 2026, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 25 September 2026.
Shri J.P. Nadda, graced the programme as Chief Guest. The programme was also graced by Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO, National Health Authority along with other dignitaries.

The programme was organised to commemorate eight years of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

As part of the programme, Shri Gitte Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tripura, participated in a panel discussion on the digital transformation of healthcare and shared Tripura’s vision and experience in implementing the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS).

During the discussion, Shri Gitte outlined Tripura’s vision of moving from fragmented, paper-based healthcare processes towards a connected, interoperable and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem, with IHMIS serving as the operational backbone and ABDM providing the interoperability framework.

He highlighted that the objective of IHMIS goes beyond computerising hospital registration. The initiative aims to connect citizens, doctors, nurses, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, laboratories and health programmes through a common digital ecosystem. The system is envisaged to support statewide electroni health records, efficient utilisation of healthcare resources, reduction in patient waiting time, improved emergency services, automated processes, real-time reporting, analytics and decision support, as well as better grievance redressal.
