Next up in our series of resident artist introductions is Promiti Hossain, a mixed-media artist from Dhaka, Bangladesh, who incorporates meticulously crafted images of biological and botanical representations in her work, interwoven with detailed foliage studies and drawings of her own body parts. Promiti utilises materials such as ink, gold dust, and watercolour on paper coated with natural pigments. Her method embraces accidental effects that create a visually dramatic dialogue between imagination and ex*****on. Promiti’s practice also incorporates her poems or excerpts from her journal, creating a layer of intimacy within the artwork, projecting her conscience and life philosophy. Her work also explores the expansive hidden inner worlds of womanhood. For her, the canvas becomes a realm of introspection, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, and the intimate into a powerful testament to the intricate interplay between identity, nature, and the profound journey of womanhood.
