इस आकाल की कहानी कुछ ऐसी है की आपको सुनकर रोंगटे खड़े हो जायेंग। उस साल बारिश तो मानो भूल ही गयी हो की राजस्थान में बरसना है | राजस्थान की धरती है ही ऐसी की यह बारिश के बिना जीवन यापन करना असंभव है कंयोकि यह पर पानी तो है ही नहीं और खेती पूरी की पूरी बारिश के पानी पर निर्भर रहती है | और अगर ऐसी जगह पे बारिश नहीं हो तो लोग भूख प्यास से ही मर जायेंगे | ऐसा की कुछ हुआ राजस्तान के लोगो के साथ पहले तो थोड़ा बहुत अनाज पिछले साल का बचा हुआ था जिसे खाकर जीवन यापन किया बाद जब अनाज ख़तम होने लगा तब लोगो ने बेर व सांगरी के साथ जीवन यापन करने लगे लकिन वह भी बहुत ही जल्द समाप्त होने लगा तब लोगो ने बेर की गुठली को पीस कर उसको खाने लगे जब यह सब समाप्त होने लगा तो लोगो ने खेजड़ी के पेड़ की छाल को पीसकर उसकी रोटियां बनायीं लकिन यह सब भी लोगो के जयादा दिन तक नहीं बच सकी और लोग भूख प्यास की वजह से मरने लग गए इसे देखे लोगो ने पलायन करने की सोची | गांव के गांव खाली होने लग गए लकिन किस्मत ने उनका फिर साथ नहीं दिया बहुत से लोग भूख व प्यास की वजह से लोग रस्ते में ही मर गए
