Akhnoor Sports Club is going to organize Lieut. Thakur Dass Memorial T-20 knock out cricket tournament at Govt. Higher Secondary School for Boys, Akhnoor w.e.f. 20.12.20.
It was decided in a meeting held today under the Chairmanship of advocate Vishnu Kant Sharma, senior Executive of Akhnoor Sports Club and Chairman of the Organizating Committee of the tournament. There will be 16 teams from J&K UT. Tournament will be played on knock out basis. Winning teamwill be awarded cash prize Rs 25,000 with other attractive prizes and Runner Up Team will be awarded Rs 15,000. Many more attractive prizes shall be awarded to best performers. Others present in the meeting were Dr. R.C. Kashyab, Sh Deepak Mani, Dr. V.S. Verma, Kr. S.S.Langeh, Sh K.K.Sharma, Sh Devinder Chandan and Sh Raman Gupta.

The untimely departure of Joginder is really shocking, a great loss to the family and the cricket fraternity. He was a good cricketer, a jovial person and a thorough gentle man. I pray to God to bless his noble soul with peace and bestow enough courage to the bereaved family to bear this unbearable shock. He will be remembered by all for a long time.

in Kalidhar sector while defending the borders of Indian territory in the aggression by Pakistan army. D. K. Kapoor, President and Executive Body of Akhnoor Sports Club as well as sportspersons of Akhnoor paid rich homage to the martyr by garlanding his monument in the Thakur Dass Memorial Complex in Akhnoor. Two minute silence was observed in respect of the great martyr. The Akhnoor Sports Club has been regularly commemorating the martyrdom day of brave son of the soil since his martyrdom. The tribute ceremony was held while wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing and observing all recommended SOPs during the ongoing Corona pandemic.

On this day, we also pay our heartfelt homage to the great hero and brave son of Akhnoor, Lieut. Thakur Dass Sharma, who gave supreme sacrifice while defending the borders and the sovereignty of our country during Indo-Pak war of 1965.

The Martyrdom Day of Lieut. Thakur Dass Sharma is celebrated by Akhnoor Sports Club every year on 12 September with honour to the valiant Army Officer who sacrificed his precious life while defending the border of the nation during Indo-Pak war of 1965.
