*ANANTNAG YOUTH TAKE A STAND AGAINST DRUGS THROUGH YSS SPORTS INITIATIVES*
Taking the lead in promoting the vision of a drug-free society, the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports J&K has been actively organizing a series of sports and awareness programmes under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. In continuation of this initiative, District Anantnag also witnessed a wide range of impactful events across multiple zones including Mattan, Bijbehara, Verinag, Bidder, Achabal, Shangus, and Anantnag, successfully organized a series of Inter-School Cross Country Races and comprehensive anti-drug awareness programmes.
These events witnessed overwhelming participation from students across all age groups, reflecting a strong commitment towards promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and a drug-free lifestyle among youth. In Zone Mattan, a Cross-Country Race for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls was conducted from Bumzoo Point to Tik Bagh Mattan. In Zone Bijbehara, an Inter-School Zonal Level Cross Country Race for U-14 and U-17 boys was organized from Padshah Bagh to MS Gadiseer. In the U-17 category, Towkeer Bilal secured 1st position, Faisal Hafeez secured 2nd position, while Sahil Rashid, Faizan Gulzar, and Azmat Manzoor clinched 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions respectively. In the U-14 category, Zafran Sartaj, Suzain Javaid, Zeeshan Fayaz, Aayat Rashid, and Imtiyaz Ahmad secured 1st to 5th positions respectively.
In Zone Verinag, a Cross-Country Race for U-14 and U-17 girls was conducted from Feeder Road to Mughal Garden Verinag, where an awareness lecture on drug de-addiction was also delivered. Zone Bidder organized a Cross-Country Race for U-14 and U-17 girls from Club Park Kokernag to Bindoo Forest Nursery.
Similarly, Zone Achabal conducted an Inter-School Cross Country/Road Race from Shelipora Dadth to MS Imoh for both boys and girls. The event was flagged off by senior officials and concluded with prize distribution and motivational guidance.
In addition to sports activities, large-scale anti-drug awareness programmes were conducted across zones. Zone Anantnag organized a district-level awareness campaign and pledge ceremony at the Zonal Physical Education Office, engaging over 40 officials. Zone Shangus also conducted extensive awareness campaigns involving around 220 students and staff. Activities included pledge ceremonies, slogan chanting, and community outreach programmes aimed at educating youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Empowering the youth, inspiring change, and building a healthier future! The Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, Jammu & Kashmir proudly participates in the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan – 100 Days Campaign.
Through this initiative, the department is actively contributing by organizing a series of engaging activities, awareness programs, and sports-driven events over the course of these hundred days.
This campaign aims to spread a strong and meaningful message among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir — to stay away from drugs and move towards a life of positivity, discipline, and fitness.
Sports play a vital role in shaping character, promoting unity, and guiding young minds toward a brighter and more purposeful future.
Let us stand together and strengthen this movement by encouraging our youth to choose sports over substance abuse. Every effort counts in building a stronger, healthier, and drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.

*Yoga, Rallies & Fitness Drives Mark World Health Day in Anantnag-JKYSS witnessed massive participation*
The Directorate of Youth Services & Sports J&K at District Anantnag under the leadership of Director General Youth Services & Sports Anuradha Gupta, celebrated World Health Day with great enthusiasm and widespread participation across all zones, including Anantnag, Srigufwara, Bidder, Doru, Achabal, Mattan, Shangus, and Bijbehara, where more than 15,000 students, officials, and sports personnel actively took part in the celebrations. These diverse activities aimed at promoting awareness about physical fitness, mental well-being, hygiene, and healthy lifestyles, beginning with informative sessions that highlighted the significance of World Health Day and the importance of maintaining good health in daily life.
Students and participants enthusiastically engaged in fitness exercises, yoga sessions, awareness rallies, cleanliness drives, and various competitions such as poster-making, slogan-writing, and essay-writing, while experts and Physical Education Teachers delivered insightful talks emphasizing the role of regular exercise, balanced diet, hygiene, and a scientific approach to health, in line with the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”
A collective pledge was administered across all zones, encouraging participants to adopt healthy habits and spread awareness about health and wellness within their communities, while officials of the department appreciated the efforts and active involvement of all stakeholders and motivated them to make health a priority in their daily lives.
These programmes concluded on a successful note with a strong message of “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind”, reinforcing the commitment towards building a healthier and more aware society.
