Heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Nityanand Shetty on his distinguished service to the nation and his new responsibility in sports administration.

He has served with great dedication in the Special Protection Group (SPG) in the Prime Minister’s Office, providing close protection to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, a role that demands the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism. He has also rendered exemplary service in some of the most sensitive and challenging border regions of our country. His commitment further extended to the international arena through his significant tenure with the United Nations.

It is equally inspiring to see his continued passion for promoting sports, especially Beach Wrestling 🤼‍♂️. We congratulate him on being entrusted with the responsibility as the Karnataka Beach Wrestling Chairman, and for actively supporting and organizing several Beach Wrestling events along with fellow enthusiasts. His efforts have played an important role in the growth and visibility of this dynamic sport in our State.

Wishing him continued success, good health, and fulfillment in all his future endeavours, both in service to society and in the promotion of sports.

The grand Mysuru Dasara festivities commenced today at Chamundi Hills with the traditional flower offering (puṣhpārcane) to Goddess Chamundeshwari. Hon’ble Chief Minister Siddaramaiah formally inaugurated the celebrations, underscoring the values of unity and harmony.

As part of this age-old Mysuru Dasara tradition, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the wrestling competitions, which are considered an integral part of the festival’s opening culture. The ceremony was graced by Wrestling Federation of India Joint Secretary and Karnataka Wrestling Association President Bellippady Gunaranjan Shetty, along with ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, senior district administration officials, and eminent wrestlers.

Their distinguished presence, together with the enthusiastic participation of the public , added grandeur to the historic inauguration, heralding ten days of vibrant cultural and sporting festivities in Mysuru.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Wrestling Association proudly announces the outstanding achievements of our young wrestlers at the 15th Khelo India Youth Games, held in Patna, Bihar. Our athletes returned home with four medals, demonstrating their dedication, talent, and passion for the sport.

Leading the charge, Amma Goda captured a gold medal in the men’s 51kg Greco-Roman category, emerging as a standout performer for the state.

In the under-17 girls’ division, Kavya Tukaram Danwenavar secured two silver medals in the 53kg category, while Kaveri Talageri added another silver in the 57kg category, further boosting Karnataka’s medal tally.

Bellippady Gunaranjan Shetty, President of the Karnataka Wrestling Association, expressed his pride, stating, “Our wrestlers have once again made the state proud on the national stage. Their relentless effort, fighting spirit, and never-give-up attitude reflect the true essence of Karnataka’s wrestling tradition. We are committed to providing them with the best support and training, while also actively pursuing CSR partnerships and urging greater support from the government and sports authorities to develop world-class facilities for our athletes. Together, we will continue to inspire a new generation of champions.”

Congratulations to all the athletes, their coaches, and our dedicated office bearers for this remarkable achievement. We also extend our gratitude to the sports department for their continued support in promoting wrestling across the state.
