Marking the 25th as celebrations of our institution, Sanskriti took pride in hosting another enlightening lecture, ‘'Paramparadhara - a presentation on the classical dance heritage of Karnataka" by the commanding doyen of Nanjanagudu Parampare, Sanskriti’s guide and well-wisher, Hiriya Gurugalu Kalayogi Vid. Dr. Mala Shashikanth!
Guru Dr. Mala Shashikanth presented a glimpse of her work of research - the Karnataka Parampare, the 4 prominent styles (Baani), their origin, expansion, key propounders and prevalent Gurus.
Although she could only cover the tip of a gigantic iceberg of wisdom and knowledge, it was indeed an eyeopener session for the enthusiastic packed audience who attended it.

Sanskriti is celebrating a momentous year - the one where it turns 25! Coining its silver jubilee as ‘Rajatapatha’, Founder, Director Vid. Smt. Suchitra Alaknanda has conceptualized a year-long celebration in the form of multiple diverse kinds of events, envisaging to entertain and educate young artists at Sanskriti, and the art fraternity overall.
The institute unveiled the logo of the Rajatapatha series and received heartfelt blessings from Guru Kalayogi Dr. Mala Shashikanth - Artistic Director of Kaishiki Natyavahini, and Sri. HN Narahari Rao - Renowned art critic, and a founder of Suchitra Film Society, both pillars of support and mentors of Sanskriti. The guest of honour of the event - Dr. Meera Rajaram - an adept musicologist and researcher graced the occasion by presenting her research work - ‘Mysuru Wodeyara Sangeetopasane’, an 80-minute documentary which showed the tip of what can be rightly called a mammoth iceberg of information about the indulgence and patronage offered to classical art by the esteemed Wodeyar dynasty of Mysore.
It was an enriching eye-opening session which left the young curious minds with a lot of information, and more importantly, immense pride about the compelling history of our land. The event was indeed fruitful, and an apt beginning to an exciting series lined up ahead this year.
Stay tuned for further updates on our upcoming events!
