I really believe that as women (& men) we can’t do all the important work we’re here to do if we’re constantly worrying about the shape and size of our bodies. But experience has also taught me that a strong, trusting and loving relationship with ourselves and our bodies allows us to more confidently navigate our own lives and take aligned action to advocate on behalf of ourselves and our communities.

Healing my relationship to food and my body has allowed me the space and freedom to truly show up in the world, with a kind of ease that wasn’t always accessible to me and that’s why I feel so passionately drawn to do this work and hold this space - it’s the part of my journey that gives all of this so much meaning and I’m here for it 💫

8 weeks ago I launched 🪴

My desire to bring Osmosis to life was multi layered but mostly I wanted to offer a safe space for my clients to train and really focus on their wellbeing - physical, mental and emotional.

Even though I’m just getting started, I don’t take for granted how amazing the resonance has been.

For the first time in my career I’m a fully booked out coach with a waitlist of clients - and every part of the work I’m doing deeply aligns with what I want to offer to the world.

It’s no small blessing to be able to change lives - your own and others doing what you love and I’m so beyond grateful for each and every client that has walked through the doors of my little studio and trusted me to guide them on this journey 💫❤️

Why exercise?

Over the years as a PT, I’ve seen so many people take up running even though they really hate it just because cardio is believed to lead to weight loss.

Here’s the issue (well one of it) with approaching exercise as a weight loss tool - we only believe it’s working if it leads to weight loss, this is one of the reasons why so many people have such a difficult time staying consistent with exercise. When we don’t see weight loss results, it’s easy to get disheartened and not want to continue.

There are so many incredible reasons to exercise and I could list them all down here but I want to talk about our relationship to exercise and some of the not-so good reasons to exercise - the disordered ones that the diet culture perpetuates and normalizes!

〤 Exercising to make up for the food you eat
〤 Exercising to earn the food you want to eat
〤 Exercising to manipulate your body into a shape or size that isn't about health
〤 Exercising all the time to lose weight
〤 Exercising to please others
〤 Exercising in a way that doesn’t feel good in your body

And the list goes on.

Let's just stop here for a moment and reflect on what movement is about for you - think about why moving your body is important to you and then sit with some of the discomfort that comes up - because a lot of us will relate to one or more reasons from the list above.

Once you've done your reflection, focus on what you'd like your relationship to exercise to feel like? what would you like it to look like? Here's some help.

✓ A healthy relationship to exercise is about moving your body in ways that feel good
✓ It’s about using exercise to nurture health and wellbeing in a way that is actually health supportive (ie. not damaging to your health)
✓ It's about listening to what your body needs and respecting those needs
✓ It's about being flexible with your approach to exercise
✓ It's about enjoyment, well at least aiming for some degree of it

Like anything, our relationship to food and exercise will ultimately determine how we show up in these areas of our wellbeing.

Do what feels good.

I’m so excited to finally bring this program to life - I’ve worked on it for the last year and I’m so thrilled to have fellow health coach, Sarah join me in leading you on this journey of healing your relationship to food.

Over the course of 11 weeks we will teach you all the basic principles of food freedom - you’ll learn how to trust yourself around food and eat with confidence. For life.

The entire program will be delivered through ebooks and live zoom sessions - so it doesn’t matter where you are, you can access and do the course.

As a health coach my job is to empower and educate people to live a healthy life - but
what I’ve realized and learnt through my practice is that you don’t necessarily need to learn more about nutrition to have a healthy relationship with food, what you really need is to learn to trust yourself and your body around food.

If you’re going to be eating 3-5 times a day for the rest of your life, isn’t it worth creating a relationship of nourishment and ease with food?

But, this work is deeper than just learning to eat intuitively, it’s about learning to build self-trust which goes way beyond just the food on our plates.

When you’ve experienced a lot of loss, especially death of a beloved, riding a high wave can feel very vulnerable.

Will all this be taken away again?
What if someone gets sick?
Is Charlie ok? Will I know if he wasn’t?
Can I show up for everyone and myself?
Can I hold this expansion without losing parts of me?

I’m not usually someone with a scarcity mindset, but these subconscious fears pop up all the time, especially when I’m celebrating, reminding me - whatever goes up has to come down.

And when I sit with this discomfort - I realize that these feelings are not there to remind me to not embrace and revel in the highs but to remind me that as long as I continue to do my inner work and hold space for all of me, I’ll be ok. Highs and lows are all part of it, as I’ve seen many times before, now my work isn’t to fear the lows (because they’re inevitable), and play small but to know that I’ll be ok, in spite of them. 🪴

I’m drawn to people that question the status -quo, that challenge the society’s norms and ask questions. People that show up and do the work to pursue their dreams and go after what they want. People that don’t settle.

My closest friends have mostly ‘all’ gone through big life changes in their 30’s and 40’s. I guess this is why I do the work that I do - to support people in creating or re-creating lives that are more aligned with who they’ve become through their journeys, not ones that they chose when they were 18 or one that’s been handed down to them.

Big life transitions are never easy, they’re hard and often quite painful. There’s a lot of loss and a lot grieving that needs to happen for us to move forward but the joy of building your life and making it your own runs deeper than anything I’ve ever known.

I’ve never in my life been more unapologetic and sure about what I want and desire and none of this clarity came easy to me - I spent many many years feeling lost and unsure. Until about 30 I had no clue!

Career change, divorce, country moves - I went through it all to ‘find’ myself. The last 5 years put me through the wringer. Losing my father last year was what cleared the air - I know grief changes you in many ways, for me it literally turned my insides out but it also gave me the opportunity to create my life inside-out. A life that’s more me than it’s ever been.

I know it sounds cliche but I’ve lived it - some of our greatest struggles, pain and heartbreak can lead to the greatest clarity and power.

We just have to trust that there’s an-other side to this when we’re going through it 💚

There’s a lot to say about multi-tasking as a small business owner but I find keeping this ball inflated the hardest 🙈

So grateful I get to work with and create with some of the best talent in Bangalore.

The physical manifestation of happened fast, I only saw the space for the first time 6 weeks ago - but I’ve held the vision for it in my mind for years.

So much of anything we create in the outside world begins with the vision for it - whether it’s our careers, relationship, businesses, life - I’ve learnt to hold the vision for the future with reverence, just because it’s not time for to exist in the tangible world yet, doesn’t mean that the creation of it hasn’t begun already ❤️

The thing about body acceptance is that it’s less about loving our bodies all the time and more about accepting that our bodies will change and evolve (just like we do) over our lifetimes. The more we resist this change the more we struggle.

Acceptance of any kind really is just about learning to flow with the ebbs and flows of our humanity and living in allowance of the inherent nature of life - ever changing and evolving.
