On account of International Yoga Day.
Yoga gets lot of love and attention on that day. Though I sometimes feel it is hyped, it's too hard to let the opportunity pass. It's humbling too to see people willing to show up.
My wish is for everyone to show up everyday for themselves. Some bit of work for the body and for the mind will go a long way.
Just like we say it has to be like Valentine's Day, throughout the year, it has to be Yoga Day, throughout the year!
Show up for yourself when there is no hashtag,
show up when the whole world isn't cheering,
Show up in silence,
Even if the world is not cheering you on, your body & mind would.
Thank you!

Today we would be bombarded with wishes and dedications to Yoga. Infact today is the day that folks actually seek out yoga teachers. Don't get me wrong, it's nice! :)
While it is amazing that Yoga day is given such importance, kindly note that it is not about glorifying it for one day. It is a continuous sadhana. And today should be just another day when we roll out the mat and practice.
I sincerely hope we get to spread this word and inspire more people to prioritise self care, Everyday.
And of course...
Happy Yoga day 😄

Reminder. (Today & the days to come)
While we are all charging towards our goals, chanting affirmations, checking off our to-do lists, can we also remember to slow down, get back to basics.
Remember to say a kind word. Remember to be polite. Over the last few days, I had encounters with some very practical, not-so-good conversations with people that left me feeling very drained. They all weren't rude. But just very to the point and abrupt.
So here I am, to remind you to pause to be kind. It doesn't take time! Your Hello can make someone else smile! Your happy tone can make a person's day.
Let's try to be that person.
May Politeness never go out of fashion.

Some reminders:
☀️Pitta-Pacifying Diet:
Choose cooling and hydrating foods such as cucumber, coconut water, and mint. Reduce hot, spicy, and oily foods that can aggravate Pitta dosha
☀️Clay Water Dispenser:
Water from a mud pot tasts better and is much better than the one from the fridge. I personally find it very soothing. Its just the right temperature!
☀️Cooling Herbs and Drinks:
Use herbs like vetiver to cool you body. Have water infused with this herb. Drinks like lemon juice, buttermilk will also help.
☀️Stay Hydrated:
Keep you water close to you and ensure you keep yourself hydrated
☀️Wear Breathable Clothes:
Wear loose, light clothes which do not suffocate you
☀️Avoid the sun:
Avoid stepping out when the sun is at its peak as much as possible. Even if you have to consider wearing sun screen and carrying an umbrella.
☀️Pranayama:
Breathwork helps you calm down, especially Sheetali pranayama (Cooling Breath)
Stay safe
Stay cool
Take care ❣️

Can Yoga help you when you are getting your dental treatment?
Answer: Yes!
2 days ago I went for my first sitting for root canal treatment. My dentist had a drilling machine and though I was under anaesthesia, I could feel the grinding! It was sheer panic. After about 2-3 minutes of holding my breath and clenching, I was told that she was just getting started;)
What did I do? In my mind I started reciting the steps of Surya Namaskaram. In the second cycle of Surya Namaskaram, I found my body literally relaxing and my breath getting smoother. And I sat through the whole procedure with my eyes closed and creating an asana flow. On the right side and then tried to recollect it on the left.
Believe me that sort of a distraction from the physical pain was a blessing.
I was grateful for my practice that day.
