It’s Time To Celebrate! Zero-Waste Events Are Within Your Reach
Special events, whether they are house parties, official gatherings, citywide marathons or political rallies, take a heavy toll on the environment. From the invitations, promotional material and signage to food, decor, favours and transportation, events strain natural resources and produce a massive

12 Weeks of Yoga Thingy
Day 85
Today is the official last day of my 12 weeks of yoga. The goal was to do yoga every day for 12 weeks to see what it does to the body and the mind. I have lost just about 9 kilos, starting at 76.6 kilos. Yesterday, I found myself at 67.8 kilos, and immediately celebrated it with thousands of calories worth of sweets. I have not done yoga every day, and must have missed at least 20 days, for various reasons. My diet has been all over the place, and nutrition continues to be a point of struggle for me. It has taken me three entire months just to get used to the routine of exercising and I have to say that practicing is turning into one of my more pleasant addictions. Now that I am somewhat used to it, the next phase will be do go three months, 12 weeks again, but this time without sugar. That's a tough one for me, but I am feeling optimistic. Onward then ☺☺☺

12 Weeks of Yoga Thingy
Week 12
Down to 68.8 kilos from 76.6 kilos on day 1. After 11 weeks of trying, it is starting to feel "easy". The practice is starting to be more intuitive. Im not exhausted at the end of the class, and almost wishing that it wasn't over. The keyword being "almost" .😉😉😉 #

Week 2, Day 7.
This is one of my favorite stretches. I call it 'set-the-insides-of-your-thighs-on-fire' asana. It really does feel great.

Week 2, Day 5
It's been 12 days since I started my 12 weeks of Yoga resolution. I thought it would get easier by now. What a fool I've been. The honeymoon period is over and it's tougher to get myself on to the mat everyday now than it was last week. Yesterday was the first time I didn't give it my 100% and half assed my practice. Savasana is my favorite right now. Bracing for more lethargy.

Week 2, Day 3
Bhujangasana or cobra is a godsend for lower back pain. If you drive a lot, work sitting down for hours, and if your lower back is hurting from lugging around that extra weight around your waist, give this a go.

Week 1, Day 6
Salabhasana or locust tests your will power, and right now, my will has a power cut. 10 - 15 seconds is all I've managed this week, but my back feels stronger already. Excited about week 2!

12 Weeks of Yoga Thingy
Week 1, Day 5
The halasana or the plough pose has always been the most challenging asana for me. My belly rolls back and I feel like I'm getting suffocated by my own gutt, which is horrifying. The important thing is to keep your chin in, knees straight, legs as far down as you can, breathe and don't panic.

Week 1 Day 4
Sarvangasana or shoulder stand is a very good asana for those who have thyroid issues. The thyroid glands are stimulated when you make a lock with your chin and your chest in this posture, regulating the secretion of thyroxin. This in turn helps to regulate weight, sleeping patterns, moods, etc. Fear not if you can't immediately get your back off the ground. For some, it takes quite some practice to come up into the posture.

Week 1, day 3.
For many of us, a seemingly simple thing such as child's pose is awkward and uncomfortable. You get a sense of how an upturned cockroach must feel. As a beginner, it helps to stack your fists one on top of the other to rest your forehead on. As a cockroach, it doesn't help much.
