​If you entered 2026 promising to "do it all" again, I need you to pause. We often wear our exhaustion like a badge of honor. We think if we aren't carrying the weight of the world, we aren't worthy of taking up space in it.

​But let’s look at the psychology behind the cape:
Hyper-independence is rarely a personality trait. Often, it’s a trauma response. It’s a sign that at some point in your life, you learned that you were the only person you could rely on.

​Being "busy" becomes a shield. If you keep moving, you don't have to feel the grief, the anxiety, or the loneliness.

In trauma healing, we learn that the body prioritizes safety over success. If chaos is familiar to you, peace will feel like a threat. This triggers your fight or flight response, causing you to retreat from good opportunities.

To stop the cycle of self-sabotage, we have to move from "mindset" work to somatic healing.
