Strengthening Basketball Across Asia 🌏🏀

Dr. K. Govindaraj, President of FIBA Asia and the Karnataka State Basketball Association (KSBBA), chaired the 6th Meeting of the FIBA Asia Board (2023–2027) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting brought together FIBA President Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Executive Director – Asia Hagop Khajirian, and FIBA Asia Board Members to discuss the strategic roadmap for the continued growth of basketball across Asia and initiatives to address the region's evolving challenges.

A significant step towards shaping the future of basketball in Asia.

The Karnataka Olympic Association extends its best wishes to the Indian U18 Women's National Basketball Team as they begin their campaign at the FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup 2026 – Division B in Bangkok, Thailand.

Congratulations to all the medal-winning athletes from Karnataka for their outstanding performances at the Inter-State Athletics Championship held in Bhubaneswar. 🏅

The Olympic Day Run was successfully held in Tumakuru, jointly organised by the Karnataka Olympic Association and the District Administration, Tumakuru, bringing together hundreds of students, national and international athletes, and sports enthusiasts in celebration of the Olympic spirit.

The run was flagged off by Dr. G. Parameshwara, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, and Dr. K. Govindaraj, MLC & President, Karnataka Olympic Association, in the presence of district administration officials and members of the Olympic Association

Representatives from the Royal Danish Embassy, New Delhi, including Mr. Martin Egknud Petersen, Deputy Head of Mission, visited the Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA) and interacted with Dr. K. Govindaraj, MLC & President, KOA/FIBA Asia, on sports development and initiatives in Karnataka.

The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on promoting sports and fostering international engagement through sport.

The Government of Karnataka introduces 2% reservation for meritorious sportspersons in government jobs, creating greater opportunities and support for athletes across the state.
