The best time to eat fruits, including banana, is when you're on an empty stomach. The reason behind this is- fruits are full of nutrients, antioxidants, fibres and vitamins. They are best absorbed and digested by your body when you're hungry. You feel hungry means, the acid in your digestive system is ready to process the food and get all the vital components from it. If you eat fruits after having meal, it's the absolutely wrong time to do so.
