🎉 Holme Street Party - Bank Holiday Monday!

The Trades Club are throwing a street party on Holme Street on Monday 31st and we're part of it! It's a free, full day of live music, food, kids' entertainment and community fun.

Here's what we've got going on. Come on in - we are on the ground floor. You will see the big sign above our entrance.

12:00–4:00pm - Open House
Drop by, have a look round, meet the team and find out what we're all about.

2:00–3:00pm - Fun Sports Day (on the park)
Races, games and fun for all ages. Just turn up and join in!

3:00pm - Bake Sale & 1st Anniversary Celebration
We're turning ONE! Cake, treats and drinks, with proceeds going to our Free School Meals programme which supports any child on Free School Meals to attend classes for free.

The street party runs 12noon - 8pm with live acts, DJs, face-painting, food, coffee and beer and much more!

A huge thank you to The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge for their support over the last few years. They agreed the very first piece of funding for our move to our new space back in June 2023, and that first commitment is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. It gives other funders the confidence to back your project too.

We were delighted to be invited to the Rotary Club dinner last week, where we enjoyed a lovely meal and gave a presentation about the refurbishment project and the complex journey organisations go on when securing and spending funding.

Thanks again to all the local Rotarians for their continued support.

Boxing changing lives in Hebden Bridge 🥊

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge is very proud to have supported Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy (NPBA), the UK’s first women led boxing club, with a £1,620 grant towards their move into the ground floor of the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. Our funding helped pay for the refurbishment of their boxing ring and a new pull up bar, so they could start running sessions in the new, fully accessible space from day one.

Since opening the new gym in September 2025, NPBA has more than doubled visits compared with the same period the previous year – 3,667 visits between September and December 2025, up from 1,543 in 2024 – with the biggest growth among young people (1,080 attendances, up from 413). 230 of those places were supported through their free school meals programme, so that cost is never a barrier.

All ages are welcome. One 74 year old participant said she really values NPBA’s “welcoming atmosphere, inclusivity, well trained staff and sense of fun”, and a new weekly Parkinson’s boxing session is already oversubscribed. Academy Leader Josie told us: “A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge for their support in helping us get our new home at the Trades Club ready for action 🥊 Their grant funded the refurbishment of our boxing ring, which has been at the heart of everything we do since we opened our doors in September 2025. More people than ever can reach us, we’ve more than doubled our footfall from our previous location, and the impact goes so far beyond numbers. We are so grateful!”

Club member Sarah Exall’s lovely mum died on Christmas eve. In her memory we are running a Saturday Night Rock and Roll special to raise money for the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford. The team were exceptional, providing care, compassion and support for not only Sarah’s mum but the whole family and we hope that by raising money for them we can enable them to support even more families.⁣

Music was a huge part of Sarah’s mums life, she loved all music but especially Rock and Roll so we are delivering a 60s and 70s special in her honour, she would have loved it !⁣
