The Savate Association - India successfully organized a two-day National Savate Referee and Judge Seminar in New Delhi on February 7 and 8. The seminar was conducted by Ms. Anna Khosravi, Chairperson of the Asian Savate Arbitrage Commission, who was specially invited from Iran. She provided in-depth technical training and explained the latest updates to the Savate rules and regulations.

The Chief Guest, Member of Parliament Shri Chintamani Maharaj, highlighted Savate (French Boxing) as an excellent sport for physical fitness, mental development, and self-defense. He encouraged youth to stay away from drugs and adopt sports as a healthy lifestyle choice.

Technical Director of the association, Mr. Navjot Barjot, stated that the seminar would play a crucial role in preparations for the upcoming 7th Asian Savate Championship, scheduled to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, in April.

Association President Mr. Hansraj Namsaut informed that several distinguished guests attended the event, including former Delhi BJP President Shri Karmveer Singh Chandel, BJP Media Vice-President Shri Ranjit Singh Bhatti, and former Zila Parishad Member Shri Gernail Singh Channi from Haryana.

General Secretary Ms. Paramjit Kaur announced that 51 referees successfully passed the National Savate Referee and Judge Examination 2026. The association’s Founder, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Binjrawat, felicitated all successful candidates by presenting them with diploma certificates.

India Shines at World Youth Savate Championships & World Cup 2025 in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan | July 28, 2025 — The Indian National Savate Team delivered a commendable performance at the World Youth Championships (ages 15–17) and Savate World Cup 2025, held from July 23 to 27 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, bringing pride to the nation with multiple medal wins and significant achievements on and off the ring.

In the World Youth Championships, India clinched two bronze medals:
• Varun Walia fought valiantly in the -48 kg category, winning two consecutive bouts before narrowly losing in the semifinals to a French opponent by a 2-1 judge’s decision, showcasing his resilience and potential.
• Sweetie Kumari secured a bronze medal in the -56 kg girls’ category, marking a strong representation by the Indian female contingent by defeating a player from turkey.

In the Savate World Cup, Yash Raj earned a valuable silver medal in the -80 kg category and Priyam karn secured bronze medal in -48 kg category further establishing India’s rising stature in the international savate arena.

Beyond the competition, India also achieved distinction in the official refereeing and judging sector. Sonu Rani and Navjot Barjot successfully passed the FISav international referee and judge examination, earning a perfect score of 110 out of 110, reflecting India’s growing strength in technical and official capacities of the sport.

On the final day, Head Coach Mr. Rahul Shrivastav met with officials of the International Savate Federation (FISav) to discuss collaborative initiatives for the development of Savate in Asia and India, emphasizing strategic partnerships, youth engagement, and future event hosting opportunities.

This championship not only demonstrated India’s athletic potential but also its commitment to expanding the sport’s footprint across Asia through skilled athletes, officials, and visionary leadership.
