I am very thankful to Mr Indu Santosh mam .vibhavana and the whole team for teaching me this beautiful padam which uses the strong tool of Ninda stuti to praise Nataraja.
The devotee wonders aloud:
O Lord Nataraja, why is Your left leg eternally raised?
Did You sprain it in the ecstasy of Your cosmic dance?
Did Your limbs ache from bearing the sacred Ganga upon Your matted locks?
Or was it strained when You struck down Yama to save the young Markandeya?
When You went to reconcile Sundaramurthi Nayanar with Paravai, did You stumble as You entered her home? Is that why Your leg remains lifted still?
Yet beyond all questions and playful accusations, the devotee’s yearning resolves into a single, tender plea:
Grant me but one fleeting glimpse of You —
and the grace of a gentle touch from Your lifted left foot.
