As a counseling psychologist and women’s wellness coach, people often assume I have it all figured out.
The truth? I don’t. I’m still a woman learning to hold space for myself while holding space for others.

Some days, I feel stretched thin. Other days, I’m deeply present. But what keeps me anchored—consistently—is a handful of habits that nourish me, body and soul.

These aren’t big, dramatic changes. They’re small rituals.
Movements that shift my mood. Meals made with care. Boundaries I set to honor my energy.
They don’t make me perfect.
They make me whole.

So today, I’m sharing 6 of my grounding habits—not as a checklist, but as an invitation.
To slow down. To come back home to yourself.
To remind you that wellness doesn’t have to look flawless—it just has to feel true.

LIFE SKILLS- are crucial for navigating daily life challenges, fostering well-being and achieving success in all areas of life from personal relationships to career and overall mental and physical health.

They equip you with the abilities to manage emotions and build resilience.

Have you ever wished you could do things like many others around you and wished to be successful and confident like them. But tell yourself that you just don’t have the skill they have or feel not as smart as they are.

Well this is not something that is inherent… everyone out there has learnt these skills through real life practice. If they can do it so can you. Life skills can be learnt. You just need to understand what you need to work on to get better.

Sometimes opportunities knock your door and for me this call from .pal.manickam was one such surprise.

My struggle has always been social media presence. It’s an internal conflict that I keep fighting. And when this happened it made me think maybe this is just a sign for me to wake up and start doing what I have always been fearing…. Camera Fear 🫣🫣

So here I am excited to tell you that I have just recorded for a podcast focused on Relationship and marriage. And what a fun time it was.

Master the Art of Managing Defensiveness… It’s a super power.

Defensiveness is unhealthy and damaging because -
1. It’s like talking to a brick wall.
2. No issues get resolved
and
3. It creates an unsafe space to address future issues.

Practice the pause and reflect on how it is not an attack on you but an opportunity for conflict resolution.

The Mind and Body are connected…so any change that needs to happen starts from the Mind.
It takes being aware of what you want and taking a conscious decision and then start working on it.
Mindful Eating is a habit that we all need to cultivate.

How many of us eat mindfully?
Eating healthy and making it a lifestyle is not easy but is possible.
Weight management is an ongoing struggle for most of. The reasons are many. But it all starts with the mind,discipline of the mind and the mind and gut connection.
Being mindful about what we eat and how we eat is imperative to stay healthy.

The benefits you see once you start eating healthy are numerous…
Once you start eating mindfully …
You will,
1. Stop fighting food and start eating food without guilt and judgement.
2. Let go of the eat “ all or nothing “ thinking and embrace the “middle way”.
3. Learn to listen to your body ( eat when hungry) and avoid starving and stuffing.
4. Learn to cope with stress or difficult emotions with or without eating
5. Learn how to change with kindness without hating yourself into change. Change happens slowly with patience and acceptance.

A healthy mind and a healthy body is needed for a healthy life.
Let’s start with a small change in the way we eat.
