Struggling to lose weight even after working out for a while? Here are some tips that might help.
1. Be in calorie deficit - You cannot workout your way to weightloss unless your diet is in check. Try eating 200 - 300 calories lesser than your maintenance calories
2. Eat slowly with awareness - Some of us might find measuring and eating a huge task. One easier & mindful option is to eat distraction free ( no Netflix/ instagram) chewing your food slowly so that your stomach gets enough time to absorb & digest and relays the message to brain as soon as its full. Prevents overeating.
3. Change workout routines - Sometimes giving the body a break and trying out new forms of exercise helps to push the body's metabolism. Or you can increase reps or weights in your workout to see changes.
4. Check for hidden calories in meals - Sometimes food is labeled 'good' or 'bad' and we end up overeating the so called 'good' food not knowing how calorie intensive it can be. For example, almonds are highly nutritious but also high in calories as well and overeating can lead to weight gain. Moderation is always the key here.

My first experience with meditation was actually kind of annoying. The moment I sat in place, the thoughts just couldn't stop flowing in, weird parts of my body started paining and itching and all I could ever think was when will this end.
It took me a while to get back & try meditating again & this is what I learnt from the process-
1. Meditation is like any other skill. You need to keep practicing, honing the skill to go deeper.
2. Unlike other skills where you train to be stronger, faster etc, in meditation you train your mind to just relax (trust me when I say it's more relaxing than sleeping ). Most people think meditation is about focus but in reality it's just a deep relaxation (you are basically giving your mind a break)
3. One of the easiest trick I found to go deeper in meditation was to do some form of exercise before. It helps your mind to be calmer because it's tired.
4. Always start by guided meditation before you progress further. There are multiple free guided meditation available in YouTube & Spotify. Some of the apps I like are Calm, Lojong, Insight Timer, Headspace. Or you can join any yoga class where the teacher can guide you.
Meditation has made my mind a little less chaotic, little less overwhelmed & a lot more happy and if that's what you want for yourself, then all you need to do is just try :)

I had one of those hectic, anxiety filled time last week which led to a breaking point where I had to take a step back & forcefully calm my mind, retrospect and just exhale.
I believe there is light in the end of the end of the darkness : a bright light which won't make us forget our past, but will bring hope and make us stronger & grateful for what we have. For all those who are going through difficult times, just exhale & let this phase pass through, I promise there are better times ahead! :)
