A Legacy of the Sea: Late Prithvi Raj Manivelu and the Rescue of an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle
The ocean has always been generous—offering sustenance, adventure, and stories that last a lifetime. But every so often, it asks something back. On one unforgettable expedition, Late Prithvi Raj Manivelu, master angler and ocean guardian, answered that call in the most human way possible.
During what was meant to be a routine fishing expedition, Prithvi noticed an Olive Ridley sea turtle in distress. One of the oldest living mariners of our oceans, the turtle was exhausted and vulnerable, caught in a situation it could not escape on its own.
Without hesitation, the purpose of the expedition changed.
What followed was not an act performed for recognition, but a natural response shaped by decades of experience and an unbreakable bond with the sea. With calm hands and deep respect for marine life, Prithvi ensured the turtle was carefully freed, prioritizing its safety above everything else.
Moments later, the Olive Ridley slipped back into the water, pausing briefly at the surface before disappearing into the blue—returning to the ocean it has known for millions of years.
For those who knew Late Prithvi Raj Manivelu, this act came as no surprise. A legendary angler with decades of experience and countless milestones, he stood firmly for ethical fishing and conservation. To him, the ocean was never just a place to fish—it was a living ecosystem, deserving of protection and reverence.
This rescue also carries a powerful message, especially for shore anglers.
Many of our beaches are not merely fishing grounds—they are critical nesting areas for Olive Ridley sea turtles. These turtles return to specific stretches of coastline to lay their eggs, trusting the land as much as the sea. Careless fishing, discarded hooks, lines, excessive lighting, and disturbance of beaches can unknowingly destroy nests and threaten future generations.
Shore anglers must be conscious of where they fish, when they fish, and how they fish. Respecting nesting zones and seasonal sensitivities is not a restriction—it is a responsibility we owe the ocean.
At a time when marine life faces immense pressure from pollution, ghost nets, and habitat loss, moments like this define true conservation. Not through words or campaigns, but through action—quiet, decisive, and compassionate.
This was not just a turtle rescue.
It was a reflection of a life lived in harmony with the sea.
Somewhere beneath the waves today, an Olive Ridley sea turtle swims free because Late Prithvi Raj Manivelu chose compassion over convenience.
That choice is his legacy. 🌊🐢
SUPERMARINE REPORT!!
Team Supermarine had the absolute privilege of assisting Vaishak — an angler from Kerala who is rapidly making waves in the Chennai sport-fishing scene. He landed an impressive 8 kg king mackerel from the shore, showcasing remarkable skill, patience, and a calm, humble nature that truly reflects what an angler of real class should be. Watching him fish was a privilege in itself, and his dedication left our entire team inspired. We at Supermarine look forward to sharing many more sessions with him and proudly welcome him to TEAM SUPERMARINE.
🔥 SUPERMARINE REPORT 🔥
Shoeb — a dedicated angler, a loyal well-wisher, and a proud member of Team Supermarine — and a close friend of Master Angler Prithvi Raj Manivelu from Bangalore, landed a solid 5.5 kg GT that gave him a tough, spirited fight.
Fishing from the shoreline, Shoeb relied on pure skill and patience. Using his trusted INDRA Surf Casting Rod and natural bait, he waited out the tides, read the water perfectly, and hooked into this powerful GT. The fish made strong runs, tested the drag, and pushed back hard, but Shoeb maintained total control and brought it in with class.
This catch represents the true Supermarine spirit — commitment, technique, and passion for the sport. Shoeb continues to support the club as a well-wisher and an active team member, proudly carrying the Supermarine name wherever he fishes.
Team Supermarine congratulates Shoeb on this clean, well-earned GT!
