"I was honoured to be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function of the 23rd Padma Bhushan Lady Andal Memorial Inter-School Tournament & Swimming Meet.

I had a poem ready for the children and parents. The rain had other plans.
But the message remains.

To the parents: thank you. You are a bigger part of your child’s sporting journey than you probably realise.

To the children: put the laps in. Chase the win. But don't forget to play. Freestyle your butterflies. Enjoy these days. They move faster than you think.

I came away from the evening feeling deeply grateful—to the school, the families, the coaches and, most of all, the young athletes who reminded me why sport matters so much."
