Kala Sadhanalaya- an institution dedicated to the training and performance of Bharathanatyam in the Melattur style- Founded by Smt. Revathi Ramachandran.
Revathis’ quest for excellence resulted in Kala Sadhanalaya, a dance school established to nourish young talent towards the sublime heights of Bharathanatyam. Founded in 1987, the school has grown in number, and in talent, training dancers from across the seas as well. The students of the institution are trained in Purna Vidya (a study of the spiritual and cultural heritage of India), Nattuvangam and theory of dance, to strengthen their understanding of this sacred art.

As part of the Kala Shibiram, we’re very excited to announce a series of lectures, ‘The Grand Discourse: Narratives from Exponents’, in an effort to gain holistic knowledge of different art forms and history.
We are eagerly looking forward to start off with Dr. Chithra Madhavan who will take us into the world of temple architecture and history!
The sessions are open for parents as well, and we encourage them to attend the lectures to understand the intricacies and interconnectedness of various art forms.

Guru Smt Revathi Ramachandran was awarded the prestigious ‘Natya Kalasarathy’ Award by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, with Guru Padma Subramanyam conferring the award to her for her endless dedication and contribution to the artform. She is and will always be such an inspiration to us all with her knowledge, passion and energy!🙏🏼

Our founder, Guru Smt Revathi Ramachandran, presented ‘Purna Margam’ under the auspices of Natyarangam on the 29th March, 2025.
A true stalwart, her performance was a tribute to her gurus and a masterclass in the Melattur Bani. She went up on stage after 7 long years, and the wait was absolutely worth it! It was incredibly magical to watch ‘miss’, as we fondly call her, dance her heart out on stage and inspire the audience with her grace and panache! Here are a few pictures from the day.
