Hardik Pandya is the talking point of IPL at the moment, although in a negative manner. He is being lambasted by Gujarat fans for him giving up on their franchise, while he is being attacked by Mumbai fans due to him purportedly demanding captaincy of MI, and the MI fans have taken it as disparage of five time IPL winning captain Rohit Sharma.

In my view, it is apparent that MI would have approached him to join back them and thought of handing him captaincy of the franchise in future. But in a phase Indian cricket is at the moment when BCCI will surely be looking for a captain after Rohit Sharma across formats, Hardik could not really accept to play only as a player for MI when he had captaincy of Gujarat Titans.

It would have certainly minimised his chances to become India captain because the two others options KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were captain of their respective franchises.
