Ping Color Code System – Lie angle is the measurement of the angle between the sole of the club and the centerline of the shaft. PING irons can be custom fit to different lie angle or Color Codes to fit golfers of varying sizes, swing tendencies and ball flight preferences. There are 12 different Color Codes, ranging from more than 4.5 degrees upright (Maroon Color Code) to more than 3.75 degrees flat (Gold Color Code) as denoted by a colored dot on the iron head. Establishing the most effective Color Code(Lie Angle) is a very important part of the fitting process as it can impact direction. Clubs that are too upright may cause a golfer to draw, hook or pull the ball; while clubs that are too flat may cause the golfer to fade, slice or push the ball.
Ping Putter Fitting – Different designs may suit certain putting strokes better than others. i.e, a golfer with a distinct “inside-to-square-to-inside” stroke may be more effective with a heel shafted or to-down putter. A golfer with a “Straight-back-straight-through” stroke may be more effective with a face balanced putter. A golfer with a slight”inside-to-square-to-inside” stroke may be more effective with a putter in the middle of the range.
