Remember when India won the Cricket World Cup in 2011? Or when P.V. Sindhu won that silver in the Olympics?
Irrespective of whether you play these sports or any other sport, or in fact not play sport at all, these moments have touched your lives. You have felt the jubilation of that victory, the sense of pride at being from the nation or region which the athlete or the team represents.
The ability of sports to provide joy is unbound.
But far too often we get caught up with sport only when the achievements come through. What remains forgotten is the hard work, the struggle and the dedication the athletes put to get to where they are.
Another aspect of sports, that slips the limelight, is the fact that the talent we have is unlimited, but for every athlete that gets through the struggle and emerges victorious, there are at least a thousand other athletes, that do not. Their burden is too heavy to keep working alone.
If we wish to be a part of the athletes' success, then it is our duty to be a support system during their struggle. The joy of a victory is for all of us to share. But ensuring that the athletes, who are giving it their all on a daily basis, experience the joy of sport themselves, also becomes our responsibility.
Believe Sports Foundation has taken up the challenge to aid all athletes in their struggle, so they can work on their craft and enjoy playing their sport, without being overburdened.
If they enjoy their sport and play with the unbridled energy, then their triumphs can not be limited. And the more they succeed, the more opportunity it provides for all of us to feel involved in their achievements and rejoice with them.
