Day 2 (admin admin and more admin)
So then, our first full day in India. After last nights horrors it couldn’t be a surprise that we were reluctant to get out and do something. The safety of our bedroom seemed like the most appealing option on the menu of activities.

Nevertheless we wondered downstairs to try and sort out something to do for the week besides staying in bed wishing that we had gone to the Maldives. When we got to the travel desk however it was like we were in another country… again. Eventually we booked ourselves a private 4 day tour of the golden triangle (google it to see what we have in store) summing up to £280 for the two of us.

This was not the only thing that we needed to pay for as we still had not paid for the hotel. As we each needed to withdraw £250 ish the guys at the front desk decided to send the security guard with us. It was at this moment as we stepped outside again that this was the same country as last night. Despite this, all went swimmingly and as it was now 7pm by this point, we cowered in our rooms for a while before eventually finding food in the hotel restaurant.

Whilst in the restaurant, the waiter offered us a beer list and to our amazement there it was… kingfisher, maybe this part will be fun after all.

Day 1 of non stop travelling completed…
A quick rise and shine at 4am for a 9am flight, full airport dad mode was activated. 1 hour to Frankfurt and all was going well. We had 30 minutes to transfer so got our running mode activated only to get to the gate and find out that we were delayed for over an hour. Nevertheless we got on…eventually and were on our way. Paddy was convinced to watch A Man Called Otto on the flight after stating that he had never cried at a film before. Needless to say that his nose was running by the end of it. So we touched down and the cool 30 degree heat hit our faces at 3 in the morning. The taxi that took us to the airport was driving like he was in GTA and I think that will be a common theme throughout the trip. Stray dogs in the middle of the street and children attempting to sell us limes in the middle of the road… god what have we got ourselves in for?

So here we go… our first post. Sam and Paddy will be venturing across the seas to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 to take part in the Rickshaw Run 2024. This is basically a week from 9th-16th August living in a Tuk Tuk driving up and down the country trying not to die. If the thing breaks down… we fix it, whether that’s up a mountain or in a river.
