Once upon a time, there was this curious kid named Anuj Vats. He was born into ancient Brahmin's family with strong spiritual background, therefore Anuj was introduced into yoga, meditation and chantings from very early age. Also, both parents were very sporty (father did wrestling and mother was very good in athletics), so he was naturally inspired in the direction of health and fitness. He later even started to go to school where they regularly taught yoga and everything related to spirituality. This school also offered vast range of sports and dances, and Anuj was keen to participate in many of them. He even went to many competitions, representing the school.
His nature led him to explore variety of things as he was groping up, and he never ceased to seek more. In 2006, he started to be involved more in martial arts sphere, namely taekwondo. Very soon after joining the classes, he was already participating in competitions, starting with regional ones up till the international ones. And boy was he successful! His main achievement is a first place in Southeastasian championship. He also had an encounter with other kinds of martial arts, such as jiu-jitsu, kick boxing, Indian wrestling and so on. As he admits, adopting the philosophy of martial arts was a big eye-opener and a turning point in his life.
This practice unfortunately also took a toll on him - he got several injuries and in 2008 he broke his hip, which resulted in about 1 year on a bed rest. The doctor's verdict wasn't optimistic at all - he said Anuj will be never able to do sports again. He was also suggesting a surgery. Anuj, having his own mind and being confident in Ayurvedic system, he decided to take the healing in his own hands instead. He studied a lot and with this knowledge and a systematic training, he finally overcame bad predictions and returned to the full health. Needles to say, the doctors were shocked :)
As he wanted to grew even more fit after this incident, he joined a gymnastic club. He was training in national stadiums for around 2 years, and apart of gymnastics he also learned elements from parkour, calisthenics and free running. He was soon in a great condition again, which led him to work in a position of a stunt man in movies and ads. He also did on stage shows for companies such as Rebook, Adidas, Volkswagen or even at Bollywood happenings. Later on his steps led also to a training in a national forces (CRPF), where he experienced different aspects of discipline and personal mastery.
After leaving the army, he returned home and started to give trainings for small groups of people in the park. As this group grew gradually, he decided to open his first gym. And this is the point when the SHVAS TBA was born! His classes got soon so popular that he was forced to open a bigger gym. He also got an attention from media that time, and was invited to have his own stage at Rhana Giri event. It was flourishing time for the business, so Anuj also decided to create an NGO dedicated to educating women about self-defense. He and his team were delivering workshops at different universities free of charge. Meanwhile, Anuj was deepening his knowledge in physiotherapy by participating in various courses, or even visiting hospitals units dedicated to patients' recovery. He also went to certify himself fully in Yoga with one of the founders of Yoga Alliance, Swami Vidyanand. That led him to travel all around India to deliver workshops on yoga and healing.
In a several years time, young Mr. Vats decided to partner with a few friends and open even a bigger gym in Rajhori garden, where he invited various fitness professionals to work with him. That was also great for expanding his knowledge, as he was always observing their teaching methods. Like this he gained the confidence to train professional sportsmen such as national and international players.
When everything was functioning great, suddenly in 2018 the gym was forced to shutdown as per new government rules. The losses has been immense and the partners quickly disappeared, leaving Anuj with huge loans. Then he shifted the space into the upper floor of his house and maintained courses and personal training for his most loyal customers. He also started to dedicate himself more in one to one therapies, gaining a direct insight on various physical and emotional problems that people encounter.
Currently, SHVAS TBA is in mode of an expansion again. We are preparing a bigger space and more workshops worldwide. We are also looking to employ trainees and people wanting to join us as interns, especially from foreign countries. We guarantee their progressive learning and for the best ones we can also offer a permanent job position.
