One can get maximum from an excercise if mind is connected with muscle during excercise and for doing so, form and technique is very important.
Main AIM of this excercise is to maintain the RANGE OF MOTION of elbow joint simultaneously working on TRICEPS.
MYTH:
one should not perform single joint movement as it may lead to joint injury. This is correct if cocontraction is NOT done.
This is wrong if CO-CONTRACTION is done.
It means one has to tight antagonist( in this case biceps) muscle at the end range of contraction so that joint reaches to its optimum range.
FORM & TECHNIQUE
1) Hold the bar from shoulder width with your shoulders externally rotated.
2) place your foot on the floor to make your movement more balanced.
3) Arm should be little inclined so that muscle remains under tension all the time during the lift.
4) low back should be stable on bench.
5) Slight arching can come from upper back region.

Joining a health facility doesn't only means to fat loss or muscle gain, sports specific goals are also achieved like the one shown in this video.
This young man wants to improve his GOLF game. After making a SMART GOAL from his needs analysis a customized training pattern is designed in which WOOD CHOP & HAY-BAILER SPIRAL PATTERN( HIP- HINGE) is one of the chosen excercise.
This helped in 2 ways
1) Removed LOW BACK pain because of muscle imbalance due to right side overuse (golfer's can feel that pain)
2) Improvement in game.
This excerise is not just for GOLFER'S it should be done by every excercise lover as ROTATION is a FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT which helps you in daily activity.

AGE doesn't matters if excercise is done in supervised setting.
1) IMAGE 1 (two parallel lines) represents FIGURE 4 POSITION (torso parallel to tibia) which is very important to execute the lift.
By Maintaining this position KNEE and LOW BACK is in safe & correct position due to which one can lift maximum weight, Thus can get maximum benefit of SQUAT. ( eg. Overall body strength, quadriceps and glutes development, increased testosterone level in body, ETC.)
2) IMAGE 2 represents degree up to which one has to go down. RANGE OF MOTION is most important to get maximum from an excercise. In this case he can go upto 88° because after that BUTT WINGING occurs which causes pain in LOW BACK.
IMP TIP:
one has to go down minimum of 90° and max to 120°.
To find out your range of motion contact a FITNESS PROFESSIONAL.
Despite of many good things about squat there are many side effects if not done in correct supervision like LOW BACK and KNEE PAIN.

Surprise!! A powerful rotational movement (woodchop)can be done from a resistance rope. So u need generate force from abdominal group particularly obliques and definitely from hip muscle followed by a lunge. Hip rotation is v. Important otherwise chances of lowerback engagement increases which may lead to low back pain. Do it and feel it. Don't underestimate resistance rope.
