Open Call | Counterstructures Residency

Khoj International Artists’ Association, in collaboration with Mozilla Foundation, invites applications for the Counterstructures Residency, a six-week programme for creative technologists to prototype and develop projects that question how AI systems shape the ways we create, remember, interpret and share knowledge.

The Delhi edition invites artists and creative technologists to respond to one or both of two thematic tracks:
Retaining Cultural Authority — exploring how communities can retain agency over what is digitised, interpreted, reused or kept private.
Remembering and Thinking With Machines — investigating where human judgment enters systems increasingly shaped by AI, and what forms of knowledge might be transformed or lost in the process.

The residency offers time, resources and support to develop experimental prototypes that engage with these questions and imagine ways of working with, against or beyond increasingly predictive and deterministic systems.
Projects may take a range of forms, but should critically respond to the concerns outlined in the two thematic tracks.

We are looking for a Production & IT Manager to join the Khoj team and oversee the technical, production and IT requirements of our programmes and day-to-day operations.

The role will involve working closely with artists, curators, technicians, vendors and the wider Khoj team to coordinate exhibitions, residencies, events and other programmes, while also overseeing Khoj’s IT systems, equipment and technical infrastructure.

This is a full-time, on-site position at Khoj Studios, New Delhi. The role may require flexible working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, depending on programme requirements.

The Khoj International Residency begins today, and we’re pleased to introduce this year’s cohort of resident artists.
Over the next six weeks, the artists will engage with this year’s residency theme, which centres on mental health and distress, critically examining how pain—physical, psychological, and historical—shapes both the self and society.

We never imagined we would have to write something like this for one of our own. Life is fragile, and everything can change in the blink of an eye.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Suresh Pandey.

Suresh’s journey at Khoj began in 2014 as an intern. Over the next twelve years, he grew alongside the organisation, becoming our Head of IT and Production. His journey was one of perseverance, generosity, and immense dedication. Along the way, he made lifelong friendships, shared countless laughs, and became one of the most dependable and deeply cherished members of our team. If Suresh was looking after something, we knew it would be done—and done with care and thoughtfulness.

Behind every exhibition, every Open Day, every gathering and celebration at Khoj was Suresh. He worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes, making sure every detail came together and every space felt welcoming and beautiful. Much of what people remember and experience at Khoj carries his invisible but unmistakable touch.

But what made Suresh truly special wasn’t only his skill and commitment. It was his generosity, his warmth, and the ease with which he made people feel at home. He welcomed everyone with kindness and made strangers feel like they belonged. His presence brought a sense of joy and reassurance to Khoj, and it is impossible to imagine these spaces without him.

Suresh, today we grieve not only as colleagues, but as friends and as a community that was made richer because you were part of it. We will miss your laughter, your kindness, your support, and the confidence that came with knowing you were there.

Your absence leaves an immeasurable void, but your presence will remain woven into the life of Khoj—in every exhibition, every gathering, every corner you helped build, and in the memories of everyone whose life you touched.

As the rain falls over the city today, it feels as though Delhi is holding this grief with us. We will carry you with us always.

May you rest in peace, Suresh. You will forever be a part of Khoj.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR FUNDAMENTALS OF ARTS MANAGEMENT, PUNE

A short course by Khoj International Artists’ Association led by Pooja Sood & Ruchira Das from 17 to 19 July, 2026 (10:30 am to 5:30 pm) at The Box Studio, The Box Hub, Erandwane, Pune.

The 3-day course on “Fundamentals of Arts Management” will cover the key aspects of arts management: strategic planning, marketing, financial planning, and human resources. The teaching format will include presentations, engaging discussions, and practical exercises to be done individually and in groups.

This course is in collaboration with Aasakta and is aimed at arts practitioners living and working in the eastern region of India. The project is supported by Petronet LNG Limited.

Seats are limited to 25 participants only. A registration fee of INR 500 will be collected to confirm participation. This fee will be refunded after the completion of the course.

The course is provided free of charge through the support of .

Note: Stationery material and lunch will be provided to all participants for the duration of the course. Accommodation and travel will have to be borne by the participants.
