In my post of 29th April 26 I had mentioned names of five senior players who had committed to be sincere and faithful to the game of Table Tennis for ultimate benefit to their own life. And I had mentioned that photographs of those players shall be uploaded. But before I could do that, two of them leaped into a blind alley and opted to ruin their lives. Ashna and Preeti had to be shown the door for being disloyal.
Ashna had been given many opportunities to mend her ways and if she had played sincerely for even a year, her talent could have taken her to places. But in her tussle between the mind and the heart, she eventually succumbed to - दिल है कि मानता नहीं। She is destined to hop from one झुग्गी of one slum to another झुग्गी of another slum.
The other player is Preeti. What she did is beyond description. She will have the same future. Just a day before I expelled her, she won first trophy of her life. She was using phantom on back hand and she was being trained to be a coach to be financially independent. But that was not to be - by way of her own choice.
While each of my players make a case study but these two girls are special - why do they slip back and suddenly drop like a stone into marshy land from where there is no recovery? Why can't they hold their ambition? Why don't they value their own lives and avail an opportunity made available at their door steps? Ashna got admission in BA(Hons)History, Kamla Nehru College through sports quota and she played in Bravo for nine years. All went waste. She is likely to opt to be a small time coach in some academy. I can write a book on her. She remained a mystery all through but now the picture is clear.
Whom to blame for this? Not she alone. May be the family - yes, the family circumstances are quite unfavourable, the society where girls are considered to be a liability which parents want to get rid of soonest possible, poverty - yes to some extent, illeterate parents , may be a bit of all this. Despite my deep anguish for the way Ashna behaved on certain occasions, I feel sorry for her.
Preeti has a miserable family life and she could not wait for tomorrow for some support. These underprivileged children have strong physical immunity but they have poor mental strength/will power. In game also they tend to stagnate at some middle level. Ashna was an exception. The girls get tired of negativity in life by the time they attain puberty and they fall a prey very easily to the slightest positivity shown even by a worthless boy.
The country must be having countless such cases where talent failed to flourish/blossom for some controllable reasons. Will it change by 2047 when we aspire to be a developed nation? By then crores of such talented girls would have been forced to lead incomplete life and remain to be a liability or a poor asset for the nation!!!
Is someone doing something about it. I wish I had a few crores to spare to dissociate such known talents from toxic ambience they are forced to live in.
BRAVO completes it's nine years tomorrow.

WHAT ALL I SWALLOWED

Sometime back I had written about Hemant as to how a player from a poor family living in a slum was nurtured to be a good player. He was given best of facilities absolutely free and he had developed into an accomplished player. But he was not able to digest his success and his arrogance ruined him. With him he spoiled future of two girls of my academy - initially Ashna and then Sandhya. Both the girls were showing exceptional talent.
While I have been able to succeed in getting admission of 6 of Bravo players in Delhi Sports School and a few of my players are earning handsome money through coaching but they all are a bunch of extremely ungrateful creatures, with some exception. They can't be made ambitious, irrespective of their talent and possible bright future.
I won't recommend any one to venture into such a project. Results are not commensurate with the efforts - physical, emotional and financial.
It is learnt that Hemant is now into drugs in a big way.

मैं पिछले लगभग 9 वर्षो से Jawahar camp के underprivileged बच्चों के साथ काम कर रहा हूँ। 02 बहुत बड़ी समस्याओ से मैं जूझ रहा हूं। वफादारी और बड़ी सोच की कमी। काबलियत में कोई कमी नहीं है। बहुत होनहार खिलाड़ी बीच में छोड़ कर चले गए। उनमें mostly अपनी जवानी को नहीं संभाल पाए। आज उनमे से एक लड़की तो 18 साल में एक बच्चे की माँ हैं। कोई छोटी-सी coaching कर रहा है। कोइ drugs में डूब गया है। अब मेरे पास 5 बड़े खिलाड़ी है जिन पर मेहनत हो रही है। ASHNA , PREETI, ARCHANA, A***N and VIKAS. इन्होंने BRAVO के प्रती वफादार रहने का प्रण लिया है। ये भी कम से कम एक बार छोड़ कर वापिस आए है। अगली post में इनकी photograph upload करूंगा। इनके अतिरिक्त 5 छोटे बच्चे है जो मेहनत कर रहे है। Rajeev, Jyoti, Misika, Sahil and Ayush। ये loyalty का प्रण तोड़ने पर किसी भी सज़ा के लिये तैयार है।

We have since shifted to B 36, Mayapuri Industrial Area, Phase I, third floor. It takes less than 10 minutes from Mayapuri Metro Station. This is a much better place by all means. Please come.

At Bravo, underprivileged children living in nearby slum are being given coaching in Table Tennis absolutely free. Hemant is one of them who learnt the game since his childhood and became an accomplished player. He was given all privileges and support and at one time his performance was sensational. Lately his behavior became very erratic and he attributed it to his family problems. He told me that he had pressure from family to earn money. It was appreciated and he was given private coaching to earn around 15k per month. I thought his commitment towards BRAVO would improve but, on the contrary, the way he became undisciplined, arrogant, ungrateful and disrespectful was shocking. He was warned repeatedly with no change. Over the years, he had 'setting', as they call it, with almost every girl of the Academy to be in some kind of dirty relationship. Girls are also stupid beyond description. Even now one very talented girl is in his net and despite all my efforts, she refuses to mend her ways. She is destined to be ruined. To maintain privacy, I am not disclosing her name at this stage though she deserves no mercy. I finally threw both of them out of BRAVO! Hemant is a school drop out and good for nothing else. He is back to slum-oriented life in terms of drinks, hair style, dress code, company and daily routine. A local barber is his best friend. Family has no control over him. It is a case study and I find that most of these boys and girls living in slum are more or less like that. They are not ambitious and feel choked if made accountable with discipline over a long period of time. Arrogance and no-apology for mistakes is a common trait. No parental control, no pressure of society and no moral values! Exceptions are rare and I have a few of them in my academy. I feel parental control is the dividing factor and for that parents will also have to be civilized and disciplined. That's a far cry!! Stories about parents are alarming!
With dismissal of Hemant, huge effort of over 6 years and the money spent on him have gone waste. It is desirable that he is not engaged by any one in Table Tennis fraternity for any consideration whatsoever.
