तिरंगा समर्थक गैर-कश्मीरी छात्रों ने NIT श्रीनगर को किसी दूसरे सुरक्षित स्थान पर शिफ्ट करने की मांग की है। NIT श्रीनगर में गैर-कश्मीरी छात्रों पर पुलिस द्वारा बर्बर लाठीचार्ज की घटना की जांच करने गए केंद्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास (एचआरडी) मंत्रालय के दो सदस्यीय दल ने छात्रों से बातचीत की और हालात का जायजा लिया।

पुलिसिया कार्रवाई का विरोध करते छात्रों ने छह मुख्य मांगें रखी हैं।

1.एनआईटी को श्रीनगर से कहीं दूसरी जगह शिफ्ट किया जाए।
2. गैर-कश्मीरी छात्रों को जल्दी यहां से निकाला जाए, ताकि वे अपने घर जा सकें।
3. छात्रों को बेरहमी से पीटने वाले जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस के दोषी अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाए।
4. डीएसपी सज्जादे के उस बयान को बदला जाए, जिसमें पुलिसिया कार्रवाई के लिए गैर-कश्मीरी छात्रों को दोषी ठहराया गया है।
5. जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस से तिरंगा वापस दिलवाया जाए।
6. एनआईटी के प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाए।
