On Anxiety:
According to WHO, the global prevalence of anxiety and depression after the pandemic, has increased by 25%.
These words which are commonly thrown around actually have a really heavy weight.
The triggers are unique to everyone, the causes are different and it is not even necessary that we are aware of the reasons.
That’s the hardest part- we mostly don’t know why and even if there’s a slight chance that we do, we don’t know what to do about it. Most people do not have enough information like who to talk to, what they can do to feel better or have over information through internet searches that will end up being too generic or making you believe you cannot be helped. No middle ground.
Worst part- thinking that it’s a phase and you have to be or you will be strong enough soon to “come out of it”. The pressure of being “fine”.
In short, what you can do-
This is the best time to take a step back, accept that it’s alright to seek help from experts in the field.
Anxiety, specifically, is more to do with living in the future. The helplessness of not being able to control what lies ahead, the uncertainty.
The easiest way to help yourself is through forming a basic habit of bring awareness to your breath. Remember, your breath is the only thing that’s happening in the present.
Count till 5 while you inhale, hold to 5 counts and count till 5 while you exhale. 2 minutes, no distractions.
Start with this.
Your mind starts building the habit to be in the present.
This is just one of the easiest techniques you can start with but please seek help from an expert because it’s perfectly fine to.

SURYANAMASKARS or SUN SALUTATION 101
With Yoga Day right around the corner, I will be posting series of how to fix basic postural errors made my most people in Suryanamaskars / Sun Salutations.
It pains when I hear people say or show me how they've been practising Sun Salutations (sometimes even for years) and I know in my heart that they will injure themselves one day. 😭
I know there are many types of Suryanamaskars (you know what I'm talking about if you of different schools of Yoga) so I am just breaking down each posture that is mostly common to all:
▪️ Forward fold
▪️Cobra pose
▪️Downward facing dog
In my years of teaching, these are the most common adjustments.
So, nothing fancy, just basic stuff on the mat.

The more I have been in the field of mental health and physical health (I categorise them separately because both depend on each other and I don’t want to nullify the importance of either), the more I realise the uselessness of motivation and the usefulness of routine. The uselessness of reactions and usefulness of attitude and mindset.
The mind has a powerful way of attracting things that are in harmony with it. When I used to eat crap food and not exercise one day, I would get in that loophole of continuing to stay there. That’s why motivation is useless. When you know your routine, you’ll get back even if you falter.
Find that for yourself. Find your routine and don’t look back!

Work in Progress ⚠️
I’m very surprised how I have been able to manage working out though January because some days were very very hard.
In the end, it boils down to being able to look at yourself with a sense of fulfilment which is one of the best feeling in the world.
It’s not about motivation at all!!
Being motivated is such a temporary reason to act. Moving from a mindset of “I’m not motivated enough” to “let’s finish this. It’s only gonna take 45 minutes in 24 hours” made all the difference.
If you need self talk in the beginning, do it. Don’t delay it. Start today. New month is a good time to start.
Also, taking progress pictures are one of the best ways to track yourself and become accountable to yourself.
