At the age of just 14, Dev Pratap of Uttar Pradesh has shown such skill that he has left the elders behind

14-year-old shooter Dev Pratap creates history, wins three medals in national shooting

A new shooter has surprised everyone in the 67th National Shooting Championship held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in the capital Delhi. At the age of just 14, Dev Pratap of Uttar Pradesh has shown such skill that he has left the elders behind. In this competition, Dev Pratap has won a total of three silver medals by participating in the junior, youth and sub-youth categories of the 10 meter pistol event.

Dev Pratap's coach Deepak Tomar said that Dev scored world class in the qualification round of the 10 meter air pistol event and this is a matter of great pride for me. When he scored an excellent score of 582/600 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, all the people including the officials present in the shooting range stood up and clapped. If he continues to work hard like this, he will achieve great success in the future.

At the same time, reigning Asian champion and multiple ISSF medalist Varun Tomar did the best by winning gold medals in the men's senior and junior 10m air pistol events. 21-year-old Army shooter Varun Tomar missed out on a place in the Paris Olympics team last year. But recovering from his slow start in the senior final of this competition, he defeated his teammate Pradyuman Singh to win his first national title, Pradyuman was 0.8 points behind and had to settle for the silver medal, while Akash Bhardwaj of Rajasthan won the bronze medal.

After this, Varun also had a slow start in the junior final, but he quickly took the lead and kept competing with silver medalist Nikhil Saroha of Uttar Pradesh, but after the 21st shot, Nikhil's patience finally gave way. Varun's score in the senior final was 238, while in the junior final he was clearly more confident, resulting in a final score of 246.2 with more accuracy. Pradyuman ended a successful day with his second medal in the Junior Men's Air Pistol with a bronze medal.

U.P. finished 1-2 in the Youth category final, with Chirag Sharma defeating 14-year-old Dev Pratap, the cynosure of all eyes, by a margin of 1.3 after 24 shots. Chirag scored 241.8 in the final, while Dev Pratap also won the silver medal by scoring 240.5 points. Mayank Chaudhary of Rajasthan won the bronze medal.

The capital's shooters also made their special presence in this National Shooting Pistol Competition. Delhi's shooters won a total of 21 medals including 6 gold medals. In the men's 10 meter pistol youth event, the team of Hardik Bansal, Darvesh Singh and Jasvir Singh Sahni won the silver medal with a score of 1721 points. The gold medal of this event was won by the Haryana team and the bronze medal was won by the Uttar Pradesh team. In the junior civilian competition, the team of Hardik Bansal, Darvesh Singh and Nikhil of Delhi won the bronze medal, while the gold and silver medals of this event were won by the teams of Uttar Pradesh.
