A SQUAT is a strength exercise.
Squats are considered a vital exercise for increasing the strength and size of your lower body muscles as well as developing core strength. The primary agonist muscles used during the squat are quadriceps femoris, the adductor magnus, and the gluteus maximus.
STABILIZING MUSCLES
• Erector spinae.
• Re**us abdominis.
• Internal and external obliques.
• Hamstrings.
• Gluteus medius and minimus.
• Gastrocnemius.

• Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Start the movement by bending your knees and sitting back with your hips.
• Go down as far as you can and quickly reverse the motion back to the starting position. Keep your head up and back straight throughout the move.

We call this movement as BODYWEIGHT SQUAT. You can also add weights in you squats by laying a bar across your back or holding a pair of dumbells right besides your shoulder but before adding weights you should master the bodyweight squats first.
