Our very own rising star ~ Uma Chetry has been making waves in women's cricket with her fantastic performances.

A gold medal clinching effort in the men's 73kg category at the World Youth Championship currently underway in Lima, Peru proved to be quite the winner as Assam's young weightlifter Bedabrat Bharali emerged at the top to bag the coveted title. A combined 296kg lift that also won him individual golds in the sn**ch & C&J, the Dibrugarh youngster's feat ensured that the dream run continues for India at the global event that kicked off with four golds and a World Record on 23rd May.

Dipa Karmakar has became the first Indian gymnast to win a gold medial at the Asian Gymnastics Championship on Sunday (May 26).

In Uzbekistan's Tashkent, she scored an average of 13.566 points in the vault competition and stood first.

30-year-old Dipa, who was eighth in the qualification with 12.650, scored a total of 13.566 in her two attempts in the final.

North Korean's Kim Son Hyang (13.466) and Jo Kyong Byol (12.966) won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

This was Dipa's second medal at the championship after bronze (14.725) in Hiroshima in 2015.

Ashish Kumar (floor exercise, bronze, Surat, 2006) and Pranati Nayak (vault, bronze in Ulaanbaatar, 2019 and Doha, 2022) are the other Indians who have won medals at the Asian Championships.
