6 years ago, on 19th February 2020, I performed a mind reading show at Hari Hara Kalabhavan, Hyderabad, in front of more than 1,000 people.

Two publications covered it the same week, Surya and Telangana Today.

That night, someone showed me a 100-digit number. I looked at it once, then repeated the whole thing back from memory.

I also picked up random currency notes and called out the serial number, correctly, every time.

Blindfolded, with no way to see anyone in the room, I correctly picked out who was holding a cheque, out of 6 people.

And I said the name of someone's childhood friend, a person I had never met before that evening.

People still ask me the same question after every show.

Is this real? Do I actually have supernatural powers?

The honest answer is no.

What I do is built on years of studying body language, psychology, voice, and behaviour, not magic.

By nature, all of us are mind readers to some extent. Most people just never train that skill.

I did. For years.

That's the whole secret.

Half your team hates team building activities, and honestly, I agree with that.

I've sat through those sessions too, long before I ever got on stage professionally.

The trust falls where nobody actually trusts anyone, the icebreakers where you're asked to share a fun fact while half the room is checking their phone under the table.

None of that sticks. A month later, nobody remembers a single part of it.

But here's what I've actually noticed, after doing this for corporate rooms across the country for a while now.

The offsites people still talk about later almost always have one thing in common, there was one moment in the middle of it that nobody saw coming.

When I read someone's mind on stage, I'm not asking the whole room to hold hands or open up about their childhood.

I just need one person willing to think of a name or a number, and the rest of the room just watches.

That's oddly the part that gets everyone talking to each other again, not the structured activity, just the shared moment of "wait, how did he know that."

Forced participation tends to create awkwardness more than connection, while a genuine surprise like that creates a conversation that actually carries on, into dinner that night, sometimes even into the following week back at work.

So if your last offsite didn't really land, it's probably not the venue or the schedule that was the problem.

It's more likely that nothing in the whole day actually surprised anyone.

What's the last corporate event you went to that people were still talking about a week later?

In 2017, the government of Bhutan invited me to Bhutan to run a memory program.

I stayed there for 10 days.

I trained the King of Bhutan, the Queen, the Prince, and the Princess.

I trained the Indian High Commissioner and the Bhutan High Commissioner, along with their entire staff, close to 100 people, families and children included.

I trained government ministers and officials.

More than 400 to 500 school children across Bhutan attended my sessions.

I gave a radio interview in Bhutan and spoke to their newspapers.

What fascinated me most about Bhutan wasn't the training, it was the country itself.

Bhutan is the only country in the world that measures Gross National Happiness instead of Gross National Product. No traffic signals. No pollution. Some of the calmest, happiest people I have ever met.

10 days in Bhutan, training everyone from the royal family to schoolchildren, on the same thing: how memory works, and how anyone can train it.

One of the most memorable trips of my life.
