Carbs have often been linked with obesity. But are they really the enemies?
Let's first understand the 2 types of carbs: Whole carbs and Processed carbs.
Whole carbs are minimally processed and contain the fibre found naturally in the food, while refined carbs are processed with their natural fibre removed or changed.
Sources like vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, whole grains etc are some examples of whole carbs and are thus a better source of carbs.
On the other hand, sugary drinks, cookies, cakes, bread, chocolates, french fries, potato chips etc fall under refined or processed carbs. These often don’t provide the same nutritional benefits as carbs in their natural form and are more likely to lead to negative health outcomes.
Processed food items have a lot of extra calories and are highly palatable. In addition, the added fats can make them super tasty, making them easy to overconsume.
There's no issue with eating fats, but if we are talking about quantification, you don't want to fill 30% of your total caloric intake with a 100 gm packet of these chips/chocolates or junkies.
*Taking 2000 kcal/day into consideration
Bottom line: Choosing whole carbs over processed ones will help you stay healthy and on track. However, instead of completely cutting out processed carbs, one can have them in moderation and within their daily caloric intake once in a while!

Myth #2 : CrossFit is mostly cardio and bodyweight movements.
The Facts: CrossFit combines Olympic Weightlifting (sn**ch and clean and jerk) compound weightlifting movements (squats, presses, deadlifts, etc.), basic gymnastics (burpees, pull ups, dips, muscle ups,) and common endurance movements (running, rowing, biking, swimming) to create a program that enhances “general physical preparedness” and makes people ready for anything and everything. These movements are combined in many different schemes to create a program that is constantly varied. In simple terms, you will be doing much more than simply running, doing burpees, and other bodyweight movements. In fact, you will be lifting heavy weights and challenging the limits of your physical capabilities often. That being said, if cardio challenges or distance running is your passion, we have seen more than a many people improve their race times after doing CrossFit for several months.
