The Bhagvad Gita, a very widely known
classical texts on yoga, gives various
definitions of yoga as follows:
• Yoga is equanimity of mind in success and
failures.
• Yoga is the remover of misery and destroyer of pain. Yoga is the supreme secret of life.
• Yoga is serenity.

Within the Gita, there are three paths that laid out to understand the Divine
1. Karma yoga (yoga of action)
2. Jnana yoga (yoga of intellect)
3. Bhakti yoga (yoga of devotion)

OM- The Sound Of The Universe.

The word Om is defined by Hindu scripture as being the primordial sound of creation. It is the original vibration of the universe. From this first vibration, all other vibrations are able to manifest. Om is not just a sound, it’s a wave of the universe. Om is a powerful sound that lies within us. Chanting OM or Aum is a sacred practice that helps our mind and body to energize.

Om is written in Sanskrit as AUM, which represents 3 letters and sound corresponds to a different aspect of the divine. The first sound A represents Brahma, ‘the creator of the world”. The U sound invokes Vishnu, the preserver, and the M sound is for Shiva, the destroyer. So AUM represents the 3 divine powers that control the universe.

Om is the seed of transcendental sound, and it is through transcendental sound one can transform the mind and the senses. By chanting Om, the mind becomes aligned with the breath, which enables a person to get into an elevated state of consciousness called samadhi. The activity of attaining samadhi brings the materially absorbed mind under control, which enables a person to have one-pointed focus towards spiritual realization.
